A Few Days In San Francisco

I hope that you are having a great week so far and thanks so much for the visits on my previous post of the living room dressed for fall.
My husband and I hoped for some of that fall weather and headed out to the San Francisco bay area last Thursday and just came home this morning to a shorter work week. Since we are both…

self employed it allows us the freedom to take off when we want to, but it also almost always means working remotely while we play….

We were true tourists as we haven’t been to California in many years! It’s not like we don’t travel…as we do.
As often as possible…
A day spent touring several wineries large and small in Sonoma and Napa was enjoyable and educational. That’s my Mr. exploring the vineyards with a new best friend that he made. Dogs seem to follow him everywhere…
We were impressed with one of the small vintners in particular and joined a wine club to support their independent business and our growing appreciation for small batch wine.
Husband’s favorite part of the trip…
Remember that I mentioned the fall weather we were hoping for? This orange peach rose might be it because it was hot, dry and parched. I totally packed incorrectly and could have saved the sweatshirt for another time, another place…
The Golden Gate bridge…
Although quite warm for Northern California standards, the weather was beautiful with hardly a cloud or any famous fog in sight! We took advantage of that and walked across the bridge one morning. LOVED that…my favorite part of the trip!
View from the bridge…

View from our hotel room, and as you can tell we enjoy being high up there!

Thank you to the Westin St Francis Union Square for the sweet upgrade and extras :~)

Our bay window in the room gave us a true panoramic view and the sunsets and sunrises were incredible!

One of the 8 hairpin turns on Lombard Street. We walked and did not rent a car. Uphill, downhill, and step repeat many times. I used leg muscles that I’d forgotten I had but somehow survived and maybe even lost a pound or two in the process…

A morning spent in the woods was perfect to clear the head on the day that we headed back to Florida…
I’m still adjusting to the over night flight and the time zone swap (not to mention all of that uphill walking:~) so will catch you later on this week as I get back to work and some photo opportunities that have come my way. Happy first day of fall tomorrow!

What a lovely trip Janet!!! I am so bummed that we could not meet up for a drink! Hugs, maybe next time, or when we ever get to your coast! Beautiful weather we had though I am sure you were hoping for a little crispness in the air, right? Maybe we get that in Nov/Dec! For now, our trick or treaters wear short sleeves! 🙂

  2. What an amazing place! I've always wanted to visit CA, and it's most certainly on my bucket list – especially after seeing your pics! 🙂 Thanks for taking us with you! lol

  3. What a lovely post to read on waking up here in England, beautiful photography Janet really makes us your readers feel like we are right there! i would have walked the bridge too,it looks so beautiful.the skyline is so beautiful and reminds me of when we stayed in New York,i was so tired because every night i sat on the window ledge and watched the tiny traffic pass by on the streets below,i'll never forget it,so glad you had a great trip and thank you for sharing it with us xxxx

  4. I haven't been to San Francisco in years! My ex-H's aunt and uncle lived in Piedmont and we drove up there from So Cal but I'm guessing it was probably 1996 or around that time. It is a beautiful city, so much to see! I always lose weight when we go on vacation due to all the walking we do…wish I could keep it up when we're here at home:)

Thank you for sharing your pics with us Janet, hope you recover from the red eye and get lots of rest:)
