Vintage French Style Christmas Home

I’ve been finished decorating our home for Christmas for a couple of weeks now, and as an on~line shop owner this is the season for squeezing everything in to a condensed time slot! I have many photos to share with you today, welcome on in…

It all started with this wreath that is hanging over the living room mantel. I generally start styling a room around one large piece that inspires me, and this vintage wreath that I’ve had for many years was my muse in color and vintage vibe. I knew that I wanted vintage and a look of a Vintage French Style Christmas Home.

aqua and silver christmas

It’s filled with the original picks, frosted pinecones, vintage bells and baubles and is actually some sort of older plastic. In past years I’ve hung it (and it’s coordinating “twin”) on our double front doors.

A pull back shot of the living room shows that I’ve gone forward with the aqua tones from the wreath with some more subtle touches.

vintage aqua christmas vignettes

Twinkle lights and faux garland mixed with real greens, vintage aqua ball jars, French books and baubles.

A vintage tulle tutu wreath from a sweet blogging friend who featured it on her blog a year or two ago.

Mixing textures and lots of vintage with a bit of mercury glitz. Do you see a famous blue box in one of the stockings? It’s empty, and the treasured Tiffany blue is too special to trash.

The tree is a fresh frasier fir, which is what we can get here in South Florida. I have used only white twinkle lights and no ornaments to keep it simple.

Touches of blue and fresh flowers.

Gifts are wrapped in vintage wallpapers and ribbons are fashioned from torn vintage fabrics. This gift has simple blue and white French ticking and frosted pinecones.

Fresh greenery scraps are used for embellishing the gifts as you might see in a true vintage French style Christmas home.

Garden benches have been brought inside and we pile up the presents all month long on these favorite furniture pieces! The bowl with ornaments is a vintage light fixture that I’ve turned upside down. You can sometimes find them on eBay.

I love simple, but need my fix of glitz.

  2. The past few years I've used silver, gold and that blue. This makes me want to pull it all out and use it somewhere in the house. My mind is going now and I think I have just the place. I love the snow in the ball jars with the pine. So very vintage looking and so pretty too.

So pretty! I do have a question however. How in the world will a live Christmas tree last for two months? Just wondering. I’m hoping you have a miracle formula that I don’t know about! Thanks!

    1. If the tree is purchased early, it hasn’t had a long time to cook in the tree lot parking lot. That’s what I’ve found and when we do a live tree we grab it as early as possible.

  15. Such a lovely revisit of a lovely Christmas tableau! I’m particularly taken with the sweet tulle wreath and might try making one out of a navy tulle skirt I have that is prettier on its hanger than it is on me!

  16. Oh Janet, I love it!! The use of aqua is right up my alley!! I have aqua and turquoise all over my house! My favorite color to mix with silver and gold. Beautiful!!
