A Clean Palette – Fresh Beautiful Canadian Home Tour

With the new year just a couple of days away, many of us are refreshing our homes. I’m up at our beach home for a brief respite, but once I’m back in Miami it will be clean up time! Of course first up will be organizing the Christmas bins and putting the trees back in storage until next year. Next on the agenda will be stripping the slipcovers and laundering. I also use the first few days of the year to clean out the kitchen cabinets and donate anything that isn’t part of my every day routine. Wood furniture will all get waxed and a few walls are going to receive a fresh coat of paint. Whew…sounds like a lot of work, but it’s satisfying to have a fresh clean palette. That brings me to what I’m sharing today! The beautifully clean home of Monika Hibbs, a Canadian designer and influencer with so much talent.

White may be the absence of color, but it allows a variety of textures and tones to be easily changed out seasonally. The kitchen is timeless and high end, but can be replicated to some degree no matter the budget. I love the wood mix with the rustic floors!

Open shelving has definitely been trending the last couple of years. Rather than go all out, a small mix of decorative shelve in a corner serve to hold decorative items. The same can be said for the subtle touch of wallpaper on one tiny wall space surrounding a door. These well thought out touches add a pop of pizzaz to this white working family kitchen space.

Wood paneling on the ceiling, the full wall subway tile and dutch door suggest modern farmhouse…in an elegant way.

A mix of modern traditional style that flows well with the kitchen just beyond. The blue hydrangea painting and coordinating pillow could easily be changed out for any style on a whim.

Home office with plenty of shelving for collectibles and storage for books and files. Hello Brigitte!

The use of blue accents bring continuity and you’ll find them in every room.

Serenity in the master bedroom with a custom made bench showcasing more soft blue floral.

Ensuite master bathroom.

There are young children in this home and you won’t see much clutter.

Fit for a princess and a room to grow with.
