Creating A Five Minute Yard Clipping Mantel…And Bunnies
I am definitely one of those types with a short decorating attention span (ADD=Attention DECORATING Disorder:~)) and always a fan of quick changes with inexpensive or free for the taking decor elements. With Easter drawing closer I’ve been wanting to dress up the mantel in the bedroom and honestly don’t do much “cutesy” now that the kids are grown.
Off to the yard with clippers for more of my 5 minute decor…
I clipped various branches of ferns, bougainvillea, and some other garden greenery that I’m not sure of the name of…and mixed it with some eucalyptus that I had from the market…
The pom pom garland was a project that I did one evening a couple of weeks ago…
I had some vintage drapes that had been sold and the curtain tie backs were still in my studio, so I cut the poms off them and using a needle and fishing line simply sewed straight through each pom. Using push pins on either side of the mantel and one in the center, a soft pastel Spring garland was quickly put into place…
Always keep your eyes out for vintage curtains and vintage trims when out thrifting, as they are great for all sorts of repurpose projects!
Not sure what I’ll do next on the mantel…but the pom pom garland is a keeper…
Janet,
Love your mantel so pretty. Your little bunny Mars is so sweet. So great that you found her and took her in to love. What a cutie.
Kris
Love your mantel display with all the fresh flowers and greenery, Janet. The addition of the cast iron pieces, and the pom poms made it perfect!
Little Mars is lucky to have found a family that will take care of her needs, and love her the way she was meant to be loved.
Debbie
Janet, I love the garden cuttings for the mantle! The Bouganvilla is gorgeous. The pom pom garland is a keeper for sure and Mars is too cute! I had pet bunnies when I was a teen. Boy did I ever love them.
hugs,
Jann
This is the first time I have visited your blog and I love it. Like Debbie above I too am glad that you adopted little Mars and gave him a loving home. And I love the mantel display. I anticipate a walk through the surrounding woods tomorrow with my clippers……I have a blog too called https://www.myimaginarycottage.com
I'll be back! By the way, may I list you on my blogroll? [email protected]
I love how beautifully creative you are with things that you have on hand, Janet. The sign of a true artist! The florals are a gorgeous blend, and the poms poms add just enough sweetness. 🙂 I'm so glad that sweet Mars found a forever home with your daughter, too!
