Crushing On Combining Chairs…In The Dining Room

I think that I can safely say that I speak for many of us who have a chair crush and thus perhaps a bit too many in our homes. That being said, there are no rules…

…that need to be followed in mixing and matching chairs and I love to inspire my readers to simply have the confidence to do their own thing! After all, your home is YOUR’S to live in and decorate as fits your own life and your budget~whether it’s a grand manor or a rental apartment…

You can see here that I now have two different styles of chairs at the dining table. Talking about “no rules”…it’s a personal preference that I don’t care for arm chairs when dining and don’t use them at my table at home or our beach home. I feel that they limit you in pushing in and out the chair and dislike the larger footprint of an armchair…

I have been wanting some end chairs though in this space so I shopped my beach house this past weekend! You can see the dining room at the beach in THIS post, and when I ordered these “end chairs” from Restoration Hardware awhile back I got carried away and ordered too many. What can I say…my chair crush strikes hard, especially when the chairs were on sale and found at the RH Outlet store…

The other chairs are from World Market and the wood and fabrics are similar in tone. I think that the look is simple yet sophisticated…
What do these florals have to do with chairs? Well nothing really, but I was excited that they made it in my 3 hour car ride from the beach to our home. They were too beautiful to toss…

I wrapped the ends in damp paper toweling and then in a plastic bag. Then I placed the floral arrangement in one of those reusable fabric grocery bags that we all use now. Once home I trimmed the ends and placed in my vintage French pickle jar with fresh water…

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”…

  4. I love the look of mixed chairs, especially when the head chairs are different from the side chairs. My favorite style are the round-backed chairs, like you have. I just love them! I have a addiction to chairs too – not sure why, but when I see one on the side of the road or at a yard sale, I usually have to bring it home, paint and recover it, then list it for sale. Thank goodness there are more chair addicts like us and most of them have sold, otherwise my house would be full of them! I do keep some that I find particularly in need of a new home or charming for some reason. Love the flowers too and how they look in your pickle jar! What a cool jar! Your home always shows the warmth and passion you have in your heart for all things beautiful! Have a great day! Hugs, Leena
