A Dream Home Tour – Fulfilling A Childhood Fantasy!

A Dream Home Tour today, crafted and remodeled with love! Renovating a childhood fantasy home may not be a dream come true for most. Nichol Naranjo has made this a reality in her Albuquerque, New Mexico home and we invite you to take a tour today!

Soft colors, the artful mix of old and new and the fresh young vibe!

Nichol shared this with us and her story is as fascinating as her good eye for design and renovation!

My name is Nichol Naranjo, and recently my husband and I purchased our forever home, the home I dreamed of living in as a child! At the time it belonged to Pam, the lady who employed my mother to be her housekeeper for over forty-three years. Pam was not only my mother’s employer, but also became our family’s very dear friend. When she passed, we decided to rescue her beloved home, make it our own, all while carrying on Pam’s legacy. We have been renovating it since the first day we moved it and have loved every second of it! It’s a dream to be here and we are grateful.

The home is configured in a courtyard style. There’s lots to see from every angle both inside and out!

A great spot for her pups to have some fun and the fabulous wisteria to grow and bloom!

There is a guest cottage on the property giving the family extra room to breathe and play. Note the charming French door!

Nichols’ Dream Home Tour – Inside

In the dining room with some of the grandeur of the free floral cuttings! Nichol hung the drapery rods are hung as high up as possible to clarify the illusion of larger windows.

Nichol moved a fireplace mantel from her previous home to create a beautiful focal point. The antique crystal chandelier and the French style mirror are stunning!

Nichol added a whimsical detail with the head planter.

French Inspiration

These checkered floors were a DIY that Nichol’s husband helped her install. French inspired design and similar to what you seen  in this post!

Amazing…right?!!

A view of the library and the spectacular ship chandelier (that I secretly covet!).

All of the special touches used make this house a home with a collected look!

Here are 3 of my own favorite tips to get that collected look or curated look:

  • Firstly, mix and mingle with different furniture styles, different wood tones and varying time periods. Please don’t buy sets of matchy furniture, which is  to go for this look.
  • Secondly, buy what you love, and as it’s often said “you’ll find a way to make it work.
  • Thirdly, pick up these unique items on your travels and when possible, hit up the flea markets or street fairs when you do. Facebook Marketplace is a great place to peruse for treasures and I’ve written a comprehensive guide in this post.

Nicole is a rising star with a unique talent in design.

Nichol’s Dream House Tour Primary Bedroom

Similarly to the rest of the home, Nichol’s mix of the old and new are above all …a gorgeous mix!

A large room with enough space for a sofa and a desk. The dressing screen from The Inside has been on my wish list for a long time as well!

Primary DREAM Bathroom!

In conclusion of Nichol’s dream home tour is her primary bathroom. Perhaps the best has been saved for last! Above all, she dares to be different and do her own thing! The French flair is evident in this bathroom that takes one back to Paris.
