A Parisian Inspired Table Setting
I started this summer table setting with a French grain sack that I cut on the sides and made into a table runner. It’s an easy way to add some French country rustic appeal to the table or a sideboard. The ends were left with raw edges that adds to the appeal of something not over though out or too fussy.
Next came a few of my pieces of French enamelware that I have brought home from France over the years. Most of these pieces are tattered and have seen lots of use with rust and/or small holes. They are perfect for displaying flowers, but don’t hold water. Not a problem and a glass jar is placed inside each one to hold the blooms in water. The small jars are French yogurt jars and each holds a peach scented pillar candle…again, perfect for a French country summer table setting.
A simple Parisian style table setting should not take long to create. This one took me literally 15 minutes and yet has such a beautiful appeal. The flowers are anemones and by the way…they are members of the ranunculus species. So sweet, pretty and delicate with each bloom punctuated with a dark center.
On the sideboard or buffet, there is more antique French enamelware. I use the taller pieces here and you might enjoy reading this FRENCH FARMHOUSE TABLE SETTING post as well!
The flowers on the buffet are a combination of fresh peonies and faux. It’s not difficult to mix the two and with today’s faux, no one is to know! In this post of 5 BEST WAYS TO STYLE FAKE FLOWERS you’ll learn some handy tips.

And finally, on the table there are French ironstone dishes that are over 100 years old. Lightly layered over newer plates that have a lacy design and paired with a lovely pale blue ribbon.

Beautiful Janet. For me the more imperfection on old pieces the better. Is that weird? I believe it shows they were used and adds to the story of pieces.
