Simple Thanksgiving Bounty Table Setting

A simple Thanksgiving table setting often reigns supreme for many to allow the food to shine! In this post I’m sharing an organic mingling of textures and colors that I hope inspire you. Join me along with a few friends as we share in Thanksgiving at home!

These days it’s generally very quiet at our house for Thanksgiving, with the kids grown and friends and relatives scattered. Since we take a few days off from work you’ll often find us at our beach home. I don’t keep much in the way of table embellishment at the beach place and tend to go with the flow.

Most of what I used came from the grocery store or nature outside. You can easily do a similar look for a simple Thanksgiving table setting too. These photos were taken on a very gloomy and dark stormy day, so I lit lots of candles.

We picked up some pine cones outside and Indian corn at the market. Did you know that Indian corn is one of the oldest varieties of corn and the native Americans taught the pioneers how to harvest it? Apparently one can consume Indian corn, but I’ve never tried cooking with it. We will provide these as a feast for our sweet rabbit Mars after the holiday!

I made the centerpiece for the table first, simply by loosely arranging the corn. Then I added pinecones, some velvet pumpkins and acorns, cranberries, red grapes, flowers and dried beach grass.

Next came the place settings and this year there will only be four of us at most. I’m okay with that and still love to set a pretty table and make it special!  I started each with a gold charger that was then topped with layers of dishes. All of this is vintage and found inexpensively at local flea markets, thrifted and tag sales. I love these antique Haviland Limoges plates with the delicate blue floral pattern.
