In the seasonless south it’s all about creating that feeling with my own spin on what it means to feel cozy by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate in hand (or in this case, glass of wine:~). It’s been gloomy and wet most of the week, so I had a little time to “warm up” the master bedroom mantel today and change it around with a few autumn touches.
I’m bringing in some of my favorite metals, which are copper and gold. Some think that it’s taboo to mix the two, but I love all metals mixed together in a room setting.
A vintage copper bucket that is filled with fall foliage from the “faux department” of my studio. Of course I don’t have a department…tongue in cheek if you will be I have several containers of silk flowers and divide them by season and store in plastic containers.
I’ve been going through some of my Christmas containers to get ready for a yard sale (if it ever cools off enough to do one!) and started thinking about the glow of the upcoming holidays. Out came a strand of twinkle lights and tossed into the large vintage copper bucket filled with firewood.
Glass cylinders that I use for so many purposes have been spray painted partially with gold paint and turned upside~down to make pedestals.
The glow of the lights is so pretty against the copper and at night it looks like a fire is truly burning!
Have a wonderful week everyone!
