Surprising Uses For Coconut Oil

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time then you probably know that I live in Miami. This is the tropics and coconuts have been a big part of my life since I can remember! We have
trees full of them and they have become so tall that when we have them trimmed once a year they come with some major heavy duty equipment and it costs a couple grand. A BIG expense for us, and we recently had to take 3 of them down that had gotten too large and too close for comfort hanging over the pool patio. One fall and a knock in the head and you’d be toast.

There is a guy who roams the neighborhood though in his old pick-up truck and rings my doorbell from time to time to see if he can pick the trees out in front that are a bit shorter. He sells Coco Frio by the side of the road in his spare time and I’m happy to donate to his side job :-). I call him “coconut man” and he doesn’t speak a word of english but somehow we communicate.

 

My husband and I do find some on the ground and “coconut man” taught me how to smash the coconut against the tree and hold a cup under it to catch the coconut water. It’s delicious (at least to me) and fresh is always best. Coconuts and the oil that they produce are the new health food and body essential these last couple of years and today I have rounded up so me projects that are wonderful for infusing the BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL into your life.
