Classic Blue Color Of The Year
Classic Blue is the color of the year for Pantone, as you may have already read about. Pantone is the the authoritative website that educates about the language of color for brands and manufacturers alike. It’s always exciting to see what color they feel will be trending each year. Sometimes I have to just shake my head, but for 2020 I’m all on board with the choice of Classic Blue!
If you’ve followed me here at Shabbyfufu for any length of time then you know I use lots of blue in our homes. It simply makes sense living in coastal Florida. Honestly my husband and I have always gravitated toward the color blue, so it’s nothing new. In our first home we had blue and white in our master bedroom and 30 years later we have it in this home!

A bit sappy indeed, but this explains the reasoning of the selection of Classic Blue. “A timeless and enduring blue hue, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge.”
The Classic Blue color of the year clearly looks royal and rich. It’s the sort of color that can be adapted to any room. From small doses to an accent wall…you don’t need a major commitment! Building from the ground up with a rug is how I often change out a room seasonally.
Obviously a pillow is much smaller item if you are on the fence about adding in some blue to your decor. The pillow below is no longer available. I’m adding some options in a SHOPPING GUIDE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST.
I made a big change to the laundry room (see that post HERE) with the blue and white tile. The room is opposite one of the French doors facing the pool, so blue makes sense. You could do something similar with a stencil. I may be brave and attempt that in the laundry room at our beach home, since we are currently renovating it. Don’t think you wish to go this deep? All blues coordinate, so mix in several shades and see if you change your mind!
So whether you call it classic blue, navy or royal…it’s a trending color to add to your home that is in no way trendy!

Finally! My favorite color has always been blue, but it’s been so hard to find, especially in fabrics. I am totally on board with this color.

I’m so happy they chose this specific blue this year. It’s one of my all-time fav colors. It evokes so many lovely feelings and it’s classic too.
