I’m so excited to share this coastal farmhouse style home tour with y’all today!
The North Road home, designed by Cynthia Hayes Interior Design, is one of those spaces that instantly makes you take a deep breath and relax.
What really draws me to this project is how effortlessly the coastal color palette works alongside modern farmhouse elements. I’m sure y’all will catch the crisp whites paired with soft and airy blues throughout. Colors that feel like they were pulled straight from a seashore!
The use of contemporary, clean lines with pops of coastal colors against neutral backdrops, complemented by the texture of rustic, exposed beams and natural wood tones, is such an amazing design choice.
The team at Cynthia Hayes managed to layer in enough texture and character through weathered wood details and organic materials that nothing feels too stark or sterile, despite a mostly white and neutral palette. Instead, every room has a lived-in warmth feel to it that invites you in.
This is coastal design done right—no nautical clichés in sight, just a thoughtful blend of influences that creates a home with real personality and staying power.
Inside North Road Home Tour: The Kitchen
Refined and approachable, the kitchen really captures everything this home does well.
With reclaimed wood beams overhead, what could have been a standard white kitchen turns into one full of warmth and architectural detail.
I love the choice to paint the island in that soft, dusty blue. It’s coastal without being too literal, but adds that perfect pop of fresh color to a neutral backdrop.
The pairing of the oversized sculptural-like pendant lights, white oak flooring, and sleek white cabinetry makes this space sing.
Home Tour: The Living Room
Light pours into this living room from every direction, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows framing the coastal views.
A blue fireplace surround is another smart touch in this home tour design choices, as it echoes the kitchen island and keeps the coastal palette consistent.
Now, the coffered ceiling is a traditional architectural detail that could feel stuffy, but here it reads fresh and contemporary against all the white.
Reclaimed wood beams make another appearance, tying the living room back to the kitchen and reinforcing the farmhouse character throughout.
The furniture selection is a major win here, too, striking the same balanced note we saw in the kitchen.
Slip-covered sofas in linen keep things relaxed and family-friendly, with matte black accessories and a clean-lined coffee table add sophistication.
I’m really drawn to how natural textures layer in. The woven baskets, rope-wrapped pendant lights, striped throws. It’s the perfect dose of texture!
The Dining Room
Here’s where the home really shows off its beautiful architectural bones! The reclaimed wood beams stretch across the ceiling, creating a strong horizontal line that grounds the space and draws your eye to the wall of windows beyond.
The dining table is a sculptural showstopper—a farmhouse style base and cerused oak.
This table style is perfect for this room! It really helps to anchor the room but still feels light and modern.
Mid-century inspired dining chairs in warm walnut also help in giving it a beautiful contrast against all the white and pale wood tones. The sculptural chandelier overhead adds another layer of texture with its woven, ribbon-like design.
On that note, isn’t the design just stunning? I love how the fixture manages to feel both contemporary and organic at the same time!
The Bedroom
Tucked under the eaves, this bedroom makes such a smart use of every inch of its vaulted space.
Without a doubt, the most stunning feature in this bedroom is the private deck that opens through French doors. This allows one to wake up to unobstructed water views, making it the main attraction. For this reason, and keeping within the serene modern farmhouse decor in the home, the interior design here is airy and light.
The shiplap cladding wraps the angled ceiling, creating a stunning visual effect without overwhelming the room. A sleek glass-top desk with angled walnut legs provides a functional workspace, while a sculptural blue chair adds a cute personal touch that echoes the coastal color palette we’ve seen throughout.
The all-white palette could feel stark in a smaller space, but the vaulted ceiling and the stunning views that fill the room with natural light keep it feeling airy rather than cramped!
The Home Office
In this sleek home office nook, built-in cabinetry is the focal point. Making a smart use of the space, the floor-to-ceiling shelving flanks a central desk area, allowing space for display and storage without eating into the room’s footprint.
The same reclaimed beams overhead continue the architectural thread from the main living spaces, with shiplap backing adding subtle texture that ties into the farmhouse aesthetic.
I really like the restrained styling on the open shelves, too. The white vessels, a few organic elements, and small pieces of art. It’s curated to give it a personal touch but keeps the serene and uncluttered feel.
