Take a closer look at this contemporary home tour and get inspired by interiors that masterfully create warmth with contrast.
I’ve got one amazing new home that I’m sure y’all will love!
In this edition of our home tour series, we’re taking a closer look at one home designed by the Laura Design Company team.
After so many home tours, I know we are all aware of how tricky it is to create contemporary interiors that feel welcoming and cozy right from the moment you step into them.
Yet, this stylish home shows us exactly how it’s done with restrained decor.
The design approach at play here mixes a refined take on contemporary style with timeless elements inspired by traditional design.
Contemporary Home Tour: Mastering Contrast and Warmth in Modern Design
What I love the most about it is how the design strategy centers around creating visual interest through contrasts. It’s such a nice way to warm up the spaces without clutter!
So now, grab your favorite drink and let’s break down what makes this so inspiring!
The Overall Aesthetic: Curated Contemporary with Natural Elements
As we are welcomed by the entryway, the style of this home makes an impression right out of the bat!
Following a refined contemporary style, the space invites with its approachable sophistication.
Living Room: Drama Through Strategic Contrast
In one of the many living rooms of this contemporary home tour, the fireplace wall plays the role of the focal point.
That dark stone surround creates such strong grounds for the whole decor, doubling as a sculptural piece that anchors the elements around it.
The herringbone firebox detail adds that extra layer of craftsmanship, elevating the design with an artisan touch.
In the formal living room, a thoughtful blend of textures and tones keeps the room from feeling cold.
The mix flows from charcoal to light grey, then brings in soft blues and rich turquoise tones. All grounded against soft ivory walls, creating the perfect neutral backdrop.
Sculptural chandeliers and abstract artwork break up the design scheme with a colorful and glam touch.
Kitchen: Warm Minimalism at Its Best
In the kitchen, there’s a lovely mix of functional design with an airy feel.
The island plays the role of the central hub. The thick white quartz countertop creates such strong grounds for daily life! I also love how it doubles as a sculptural piece that anchors all the elements around the room.
The pendant lights add a sparkly touch, especially when paired with the industrial black fixtures and clear glass shades!
Crisp white uppers and warm blonde wood lowers pair beautifully against the soft grey marble backsplash.
Wet Bar: Bold Color Takes Center Stage
Moving to the wet bar, those navy blue cabinets are giving me major style vibes! The deep blue creates such a striking contrast against the white marble countertop, mirroring the kitchen’s material palette but in a more dramatic way.
Those black swing-arm sconces keep the consistent dark metal finishes we’ve been seeing throughout the home’s lighting choices.
Main Bedroom: Embracing the Moody Hues
Talk about a complete mood shift! This bedroom goes full moody with those charcoal walls.
It’s such a bold move that totally pays off! Instead of making the room feel smaller, the dark color creates a cocooning effect that makes the room feel uber inviting.
The burgundy velvet headboard brings in just the right amount of warmth.
The plum tone keeps all the charcoal from feeling stony, while those copper table lamps add this gorgeous metallic glow that makes everything feel more luxurious.
I’m obsessed with how they made cool tones feel warm here. The blue area rug grounds the bed beautifully and connects back to the colors we’ve seen throughout the home.
Simple framed artwork and fresh greenery keep the dark walls balanced without cluttering the space.
Guest Bedroom: A Softer Contemporary Home Tour Story
The guest room takes a completely different approach with soft neutrals and more traditional furniture pieces like the spindle bed.
I love how the colorful abstract prints add personality while connecting to the home’s style theme!
Main Bathroom: Spa-Like Serenity
The main bathroom brings back those warm wood tones we’ve been loving throughout the house. I love how the floating vanity in blonde wood keeps things light and airy!
Above the mirror, the skylights flood the room with natural light, and globe sconces add a playful touch with their organic shapes against all the clean lines.
Such a smart way to make a windowless vanity area feel bright and open!
Secondary Bathroom: Pattern Play
This smaller bathroom goes bold with patterned tile that covers every surface of the shower. The blue and white geometric design brings such a fun touch, yet it stays true to the home’s color story.
A super smart detail is the built-in niche that adds functional storage without breaking up the tile’s flow.
Home Office: Focused and Fresh
The office takes a different approach with this gorgeous teal accent wall. The color choices here make the room feel energizing and flow with the home’s color scheme.
The built-in desk maximizes the room’s footprint, with floating shelves that keep essentials organized.
I love how the blonde wood chair ties back to the dining room’s wishbone chairs – it’s these little connections that make the whole house feel intentional.
Family Room: Laid-Back Luxury
This more casual living space centers around comfort with eye-catching double blue sectionals.
The rich color feels sophisticated but still family-friendly, while the gallery wall keeps things personal with its mix of frame sizes and artwork.
The fireplace anchors one end with clean white surroundings, letting the art and furniture do the talking. It’s relaxed contemporary refinement at its best!
