Get ready to be awed, y’all! In our latest home tour edition, we’re taking a closer look at the charming Pillement House, where French country home decor meets American traditional aesthetic.

Based near Chicago, this renovation project, led by Laura Design Company, updated the home to a more elevated version of itself without losing any of its authentic old-world charm. A return to more traditional interiors has been trending for years.
From cottagecore to grandmillennial and even grandmacore, these home decor styles are becoming the new norm.

Rooted in inspiring warmth, a sense of belonging, and embracing slow living, this approach makes for stunning interiors that give modern heritage aesthetics a whole new look.

The Pillement House captures this movement perfectly.  It’s everything we love about modern heritage design rolled into one gorgeous home!

This home showcases a sophisticated French Country home decor meets American Traditional aesthetic with some serious design chops. Just think refined countryside elegance with a modern sensibility!

Home Tour French: Country Home Decor Meets American Traditional Aesthetic

The team at Laura Design Company has done no easy feat, creating something that feels both timeless and fresh yet deeply rooted in this new modern heritage style.

The palette is all about those soft, muted tones. A balanced mix of sage greens, warm creams, and gentle blues that make this home feel incredibly calming and help to create cohesive flow throughout the space.

The entryway is a perfect example of how amazingly pretty these colors work, setting a mood in a rather small space.

The powder room is a little gem dressed in pure wallpaper magic!

The delicate botanical print in sage and cream creates a garden-like scene, which pairs beautifully with brass sconces, cream shades, and a marble-topped console sink.

I love the sage subway tile wainscoting detail here! It grounds all that pretty pattern above while keeping the intimate color scheme.

Here’s where the style really shines, y’all! The living room has beadboard walls that give strong French country home decor vibes, but the styling keeps it from feeling too country-cute.

Y’all know I’m obsessed with neutral textures, so y’all just know I’m loving the styling here! The layered patterns with eye-catching textures in the living room are just stunning.

The blue plaid ottoman is paired with a woven throw and multiple pillows with different patterns. All these work together because they’re staying within the same tonal family.

That sitting area with the paneled walls and symmetrical windows is textbook traditional proportion, but the mix of furniture styles -from that cane-back chair to the tailored sofa- gives it a modern twist.

In the semi-open concept kitchen, we can see the same stylish balance with cream cabinetry, brass hardware, and texture-rich ceramics peeking through open shelves next to copper accents.

And can we talk about the white marble island with turned legs? Just gorgeous!

The real star here is how they’ve handled the sight lines. It works so beautifully as you get this gorgeous framed view into the kitchen from the family room, making it look connected but not in the same room.

Pairing cream cabinetry, brass hardware, and natural woods, this kitchen strikes that perfect balance between modern practicality and old-world charm once again.

White ceramics and copper accent pieces peeking through the open shelves add just the right amount of texture without creating visual clutter.

The dining room takes the powder room scene and makes a bigger statement with the large-scale mural wallpaper.

It’s a bold choice that could easily overwhelm, but they’ve balanced it perfectly with the streamlined dining set and that show-stopping brass chandelier.

The mural gives the space this Old World grandeur, while the contemporary table keeps it grounded in today.

I think the serenity and warmth in this home are all boiled down to the restraint in using color.
Every room uses the same core palette of sage, cream, brass, and natural wood tones, but each space gets its own personality through different pattern scales and textures. This helps to keep a connective thread without turning into a matchy-matchy  French Country home decor.

I also love how the mix of high and low elements keeps it approachable. It’s expensive-looking wallpapers and custom millwork paired with simple ceramics and natural textures. Plus, all those fresh flowers and plants throughout make every space feel alive and lived-in.
