Get inspired with this home tour where we’ll take a closer look at a home that nails the coastal cottage home decor!

While researching for my latest post about the fishermen’s aesthetic trend (click HERE to read), I came across this strikingly pretty Martha’s Vineyard cottage, and I just knew I had to feature it in our home tour series.

So today I’m taking y’all on a tour to get inspired by this beautiful home with styled interiors. If y’all love the coastal style but are still apprehensive to test it out, y’all need to take a closer look at this cottage home decor.

The first thing that stands out is how functional the design of the whole home is. And yet, even in all its practical marvels, the interiors are memorable for their fresh take on the timeless coastal aesthetic.

The team at LDa Architecture & Interiors was in charge of the renovation project, and from what I’ve read, it was quite a big task! The home is small for the Vineyards’ standards, but its petite size seems to have only inspired the designers to create something that matches the home’s special charm.

Having been the owner’s childhood home, the property had seen its fair share of renovation projects before, so that added another layer of planning.

With a small lot, the only addition possible was a porch next to the kitchen and a reconfiguration of the inside layout to open up spaces.

The renovation alone is incredible, but I gotta be honest with y’all, it’s the interior design that really won me over. And I’m sure you’ll love it just as much.

Now, let’s get going! Grab your favorite drink and let’s start with the tour!

First Impressions: A Coastal Cottage Entry Worth Copying

The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by this charming little entry that immediately shows off the home’s thoughtful renovation.

That weathered trunk beneath the stairs is such a smart choice. Instead of trying to squeeze in a proper console table, they went with something that adds authentic character while hiding all those everyday essentials.

The ocean photography hanging above ties into the coastal theme without hitting you over the head with it.

What really works here is how everything feels curated but ornamental or cliché. The whole entry welcomes you in while giving a preview of the relaxed sophistication you’ll find throughout the rest of the home.

Coastal Comfort: Where Relaxed Meets Refined in the Living Room

This living room is where you can really see the designers’ skill at balancing comfort with style.

The large sectional creates this wonderful gathering spot, and I love how they kept the styling simple but layered.

Blue and white pillows bring in pattern to the coastal color palette, while the chunky throws, bamboo roman shades, and the rustic coffee table trunk add that rough texture that’s so quintessential coastal.

without overwhelming the space, while the chunky throw adds texture that makes everything feel more inviting.

The pair of gray linen armchairs by the windows is such a thoughtful touch! It creates a separate conversation area that takes advantage of all that natural light, and those blue gingham pillows echo the color palette without being too matchy.

Let’s step into my favorite room on this home tour. The sunroom!

The Sunroom: A Bright Spot That Nails Relaxed Coastal Living

This charming spot really captures that perfect coastal cottage vibe with its mix of natural materials and fresh palette of crisp whites and blues.

The shiplap walls flow seamlessly into a coffered ceiling. This simple architectural detail adds a more intimate and cozy allure to the space.

A custom daybed sits on a rustic wooden platform. Paired with bamboo roman shades, rattan pendant lights, and those stunning bold blue painted floors, this sunny corner is quintessential coastal chic.

What makes this kitchen so pretty is how it balances farmhouse warmth with coastal sophistication.

Kitchen: Farmhouse Function with Coastal Sophistication

With a bold blue color and gorgeous butcher block top, the island is the heart of this kitchen.

Working as the perfect neutral backdrop, the shaker cabinets and subway backsplash in white hone down the timeless quality of coastal home decor to a T.

I’m just obsessed with the juxtaposition of the shimmery crystal chandeliers against the more rustic textures here, like the X-back chairs and wood planks.

Everything feels so fresh and new yet timeless. It’s bright and airy but cozy enough to enjoy a post-beach summer nap.

Bare of any excess, its calm style is rooted in the color story, clean lines, and texture selection.

Alfresco Dining: The Covered Porch That Extends Summer Year-Round

Next to the kitchen area, we find the covered porch. With folding glass doors and a perfect location right next to the kitchen, the covered porch works as a seamless integrated indoor-outdoor area of this home tour.

Following the coastal cottage home decor, all those cedar shingles and crisp white trim give the space classic coastal character.

The post-and-beam construction creates this wonderful sheltered dining area that’s protected from the elements while still feeling totally connected to the garden.

With simple teak furniture and a neutral color palette, the attention goes unmediatedly to the beautiful surrounding nature.

A Primary Bathroom with Coastal Charm

This bathroom is honestly a fantastic point of reference in making a small space feel both luxurious and functional.

The double vanity stretches along one wall, but what makes it special is that custom wood base with all those woven baskets. Instead of hiding everything behind cabinet doors, they’ve turned storage into part of the room’s texture story.

The natural wicker baskets echo the bamboo roman shades and create that layered, collected feel that’s essential to coastal style.

The warm wood tone against the crisp white quartz countertop adds visual weight at the bottom of the room, balancing out all the white shiplap above.

The exposed bulb sconces flanking the mirror add a bit of utilitarian edge that feels authentic to coastal living, like something you’d find in an old lighthouse keeper’s quarters.

A Guest Bath That Welcomes with Style

Moving into the guest bathroom, you can see the same coastal cottage home decor with a modern twist that runs throughout the rest of the home. I love it shows how much personality you can fit into a compact space!

With weathered planks that look like they were salvaged from old dock boards, the reclaimed wood vanity creates the room’s focal point. It gives the space that look of coastal authenticity rather than a forced “beachy” feel.

A Dining Room Built for Both Everyday and Entertaining

Moving from the living area, the dining room continues the home’s balanced approach to coastal style. That dark wood dining table gives visual weight that helps to anchor the space without overwhelming all that bright white shiplap.

This contrast is really important in coastal design because without those darker elements, all that white can start feeling too stark.

I’m totally sold on those slipcovered chairs! White linen slipcovers nail that relaxed elegance coastal homes are known for, but they are also super practical for spaces where sand, salt air, and casual living can be a real problem.

I love how the brass and floral chandelier brings warmth to all the white. It also adds a bit of vintage glam to the dining space, don’t y’all think?  The piece has delicate botanical details that reference the garden views just outside without being heavy-handed about it.

What I love most is how every room serves real life while still feeling special!
The slipcover choices, the smart storage solutions, the mix of textures.

Storage Chest | Framed Ocean Scene | Framed Boat Scene | Loveseat Couch | Striped Throw Pillow Covers | Seashell Table Lamp | Seagrass Weave LED Table Lamp | Wash Coffee Table | Glass Vases for Flowers | Wicker Scalloped Tray | Block Floral Print Pillow Cover

It all works together to create a home that’s beautiful enough for guests but comfortable enough for everyday living.

The color palette stays consistent throughout without being boring, and those natural materials like the woven baskets and bamboo shades give each room that collected-over-time feeling that makes coastal style so appealing.

  1. This is an amazing house. Most of these homes are a bit dark inside but this one is full of light and coziness. Love all the ideas you can pull from each room.
