Welcome back to another edition of our home tour series! If you love modern farmhouse decor and renovations, trust me, y’all will love this one to pieces!
For this home tour, we are heading to San Francisco and getting our decor-fix from this stunning Creekside Mountain Farmhouse home.
Designed by the skilled team at Stripe Design Services, this home is the kind of design that embraces the new while pays homage to the old. It respects the heritage and its unique character but is not afraid to shake things up.
Now, for some backstory, we need to know this is a 1910 farmhouse that has seen its fair share of repairs over the decades. In fact, so many additions had been tacked on willy-nilly that the roofline started to look like a puzzle with missing pieces!
Collected Farmhouse Decor Home Tour with Reclaimed Details
In a very smart move, the homeowners decided to preserve the original bones of the gorgeous farmhouse and tear everything else down to the foundation. And there are so many thoughtful details, I’m positive y’all will find something here that will inspire you.
So go and grab a drink and let’s take a look, shall we?
Farmhouse Decor Kitchen: Function with Historical Character
Let’s start with a bang and take a peek at one of my favorite rooms in this renovated home. The kitchen!
Stepping inside, we are greeted by 12-foot cathedral ceilings. Such a special design element definitely gives the room a grandeur flair, but it doesn’t feel too stuffy thanks to the balanced styling.
The heart of this kitchen is a 1930s island that was reclaimed from an actual commercial bakery. And those stunning pendant lights hanging above were sourced from an old schoolhouse in Ohio
There’s something magical about incorporating pieces with their own histories into a space!
The black stained oak cabinetry makes for a gorgeously moody backdrop, letting the reclaimed pieces really shine.
One special detail here is the quartzite slabs used for the countertops.
They also wrap up the backsplash and around the stove hood, drawing your eye all the way up. This, in turn, emphasizes those soaring ceilings even more.
I just love the visual impact and rustic edge that dominates this kitchen. There’s so much contrast, soul, and character here. There are a lot of elements on display, both in the farmhouse decor as well as in the original architecture.
This could easily turn into visual clutter, yet everything is so carefully curated that it still manages to look polished thanks to the modern additions.
The Design Philosophy: Monochrome with Heart
The designers approached color in a very clever way. Instead of fighting the beautiful landscape views with competing interior colors, they kept things monochromatic and let nature do the heavy lifting.
The whole house follows this thoughtful black, white, and wood palette, but they add depth through layers of pattern and texture. It gives every room a sophisticated allure that’s warm yet streamlined.
The one exception? One of the bedrooms. This room is dressed in a muted pink palette, all anchored by a floral wallpaper accent wall and wooden furniture pieces in darker hues.
This is such a cute detail that just goes to show that even within a cohesive design scheme, a pop of unexpected color has the potential to create special corners full of personality!
The Living Room: Where Every Detail Tells a Story
This living room is giving me all the farmhouse feels with that perfect balance of rustic and refined! That black stair railing is such a smart design choice against all the white millwork.
It ties back to the kitchen’s black cabinetry and creates visual continuity throughout the home.
The dark hardwood floors are also another wonderful design choice, contrasting against all that bright white, while layered vintage kilim rugs add warmth and a touch of pattern.
I love the double seating arrangement! It sets up such a great flow. There’s a charcoal sectional anchored by a gorgeous live-edge coffee table on one side, and on the other, a dreamy leather armchair with the most stunning aged patina sits next to a taupe sofa with clean lines.
But y’all, it’s those vintage crystal chandeliers that caught my eye. They are the perfect example of a collected aesthetic, not just a decorated one.
Grouping them together at different heights creates an incredible sparkly canopy that catches light from every angle. Nothing feels staged in this living room; it has just the right amount of farmhouse decor and lived-in charm!
The Study: Creative Corner with Farmhouse Decor Charm
Next stop in our farmhouse decor home tour is this little study tucked into one of the new additions.
A vintage bentwood chair sits next to a chunky wooden desk, adding just the right touch of European cafe vibes. I’m obsessed with how they styled the walls here!
The beadboard wainscoting keeps things cottage-fresh, while that gallery wall mixes vintage prints with more contemporary pieces. The wooden easel in the corner is such a sweet touch that really drives home the spirit of a creative workspace.
Those three large windows flood the space with natural light, and the cowhide rug adds texture without competing with all the other elements. The whole room feels collected and authentic rather than staged.
The Bedroom: Moody Blues Done Right
Now this bedroom is serving serious style! Wrapped in a refined smoky blue-gray, the bedroom walls show a departure from the monochrome palette we’ve seen throughout the rest of the house.
But the farmhouse decor aesthetic is still strong, with natural textures in the woven headboard and rustic details in the vintage collage artwork.
I love how they mixed warm wood furniture pieces against the cool wall color. The bedroom space feels sophisticated, calm, and cozy!
The Reading Nook: A Pop of Sunshine
Catching all that natural light streaming through the windows, the butter-yellow swivel chairs make for a beautiful little corner in this home.
The simple walnut side table tucked between them has such clean lines, and I love how they kept the styling minimal – just a small potted plant and a few books. The restraint here is what makes it work so beautifully.
