Dare To Be Different Decorating

Some lovely delphinium set the tone this week in our master bedroom, and I’ve restyled it to reflect the late summer season with pale blues and…

a healthy dose of white with a splash of pale grey. I truly believe in having your own style and although my own aesthetic is hard to put into a box, that’s a good thing in my book of living. I may not be super on trend or modern or follow what everyone is up to, but I’m good with that and being different has always worked for me!
My home has published in countless magazines over the years (of which I’m grateful to have been asked) and I think that it’s because magazines are often looking for those who DO set their own style boundaries. Food for thought if you are looking for to be published…

All of that being said, I think that some larger bedroom changes might possibly be in order. The white denim tufted headboard I’ve had for several years and I just may be looking to do something different in here…

We added the master bedroom on 20 years ago as part of a large reno project in this house and maybe someday I’ll share some pretty scary film photos of this house when we purchased it. It was quite a fixer~upper!

This room has an abundance of natural light with 2 sets of French doors, a big bay window with a window seat and a window flanking each side of the bed. I’ve been asked many times about the wall paint and it’s the same that we’ve used throughout our home, Benjamin Moore White Dove. It has a light tint of grey that plays off the flooring well and gives some warmth to the rooms without being drastically grey…

This piece has been a constant for a few years and it’s staying put as a favorite French flea market find. An old religious relic that I was able to get at an awesome price because the glass dome has a crack and the seller seemed to favor his perfect pieces more.

When you live in a tropical climate do you match the inside to the view that you see out of your windows? I’ve gone a little bit in that direction with the aquas and blues, but not typical and perhaps expected beachy or tropical style. French antiques, pale colors and a few ruffles do it for me…

Every time…

And ticking stripes that you can see popping up in some pillows…

This chippy table I painted maybe 10 years ago and it’s one of the pieces that might get a makeover or go out the door…

Pillows are the easiest way to change the look of a bed…

Another corner…
That’s it for today and weekend plans include shooting some products for the website that I’ve been meaning to do for FOREVER! Stay tuned for that and wishing you a wonderful weekend…

Luv the assortment of pillows Janet. We have been wanting to change things up in the master and are , well, stuck. Can't seem to find a light bedspread to grab the two of us. Can't be anything delicate as we have a 75lb+ chocolate lab that thinks he is a lap dog.
    Happy weekend!!
