Fall Glam Home Tour – House Of Quiana

A Fall glam home tour today and I’m so pleased to present this as part of our series featuring a variety of beautiful homes! Every style is different and I believe that is what makes decorating beautiful. Echoing real life, it would certainly not be as interesting if we all looked the same or wore the same exact outfit. Why should our home aesthetic be the same? It has to reflect you and your life. What you love, things that inspire you. Perhaps pieces from your travels or some family heirlooms.

You live in your home and need it to be a haven and the place you feel safe and find comfort. My friend Qui (Quiana) agrees and she is completely comfortable with her own style and accomplishes layering so well! Sink in and let’s tour The House Of Quiana and her FALL GLAM HOME! *There are lots of photos and I hope that you take a bit of time to scroll the page and study what Qui has shared!

Fall Glam Home Tour

“I am Qui from House Of Quiana (follow her on Instagram HERE to see even more!) and I have spent many years as a Veteran and wife of a Veteran traveling all over the U.S. -sometimes abroad- and residing in several different places. I have always had a love for family and for the home.”

“To me home should be one of the safest places where we can be free to be ourselves at all times and with our military lifestyle this meant so much to me.  Having that safe haven means we have a place for crying when we feel like crying, laughing out loud uncontrollably, curling up on the couch or simply kicking our feet up on the coffee table while unwinding in front of a good flick.”

“Our most recent home was built in 2006 and needed a little tender loving care, so I’ve been working to make changes and bring it up to date in a way that would be perfect for our family.”

“As a mom of 3 and wife of 21 years, one of my main goals has been to create a home that each of us could individually and collectively enjoy. Being immersed in the different cultures and environments gave me a perspective on life that is much different than what it would have been if I had stayed in one place all of my life.”

“I’ve lived in communities that were all about business, some were all about being relaxed and comfortable, and some were more-so about excitement and fun. Out of all those environments, the relaxed and comfortable way of living is what enticed me the most and that is what I’ve chosen as the overall vibe and aesthetic of our home.”

“In our home, there are 4 of us who live here and 1 older daughter who comes to visit often. We keep a room prepared for her for those nights she decides she wants to hang out with us and watch movies until the wee hours of the morning.”

“We are a military family and have spent most of our years moving. While we have enjoyed it we have definitely grown a little weary and are now entertaining the idea of building our next home which we hope to be our forever home.”

“Although it was built over a decade ago and requires some tlc, we currently live in a beautiful 5 bedroom, 5 bath home that covers an estimated 4300 square ft. of livable space. We viewed what felt like 50 homes before settling on this one. It was the closest in size with the amenities our ideal home would have.”

“Because my husband had just retired from the military, he took a job in an area we were completely unfamiliar with. It was because of our unfamiliarity we decided he would go before the family to see if it was a place we could live in happily for a few years. After being separated for 10 months and traveling back and forth weekly to see one another, we were anxious to find a home near his work so we could all be together under one roof again daily. So in short, we moved to the little old state of West Virginia because of work.”

“Once we purchased this home, I quickly began looking at ways we could update this space without spending too much. When we purchased the home, we bought at the top of the market. Therefore, we needed to maximize the potential of each space without breaking the bank.”

“While there are a few structural changes I would consider if this was our forever home or if we purchased at a lesser price, we decided that only minor cosmetic changes would be best. This is something everyone should consider when making changes to and updating your home. No one wants to be upside down on a mortgage should you decide to sell right?”

“We knew that there was a greater chance we would be selling in the near future so made the decision to make simpler updates that would keep the home within a competitive range for the area. So we kept things simple with our cosmetic changes.”

Favorite Projects – Fall Glam Home

“We immediately got to work on painting the kitchen changing it from the icky green walls to a lighter and more calm color. We added a glass backsplash (my husband cut while I laid tile).  Teamwork makes the dream work right? :-)”

“We updated the cabinetry and painted them all by hand. YIKES. That was a ton of work but after it was complete, it was worth all two weeks of the sweat and frustration. It was in fact our favorite DIY in the home. This is the largest kitchen we’ve ever had and it has truly given us the mindset to make sure we have one just as big in our forever home.  We still have a flooring project to complete in the kitchen but we are in no rush. My second favorite DIY is the updating of our staircase.”

“While oak can be very beautiful, it was very overwhelming coupled with the old brown carpet and it dated the entry to the home tremendously. We decided to rip up the carpet, painted the risers and spindles white to give depth (Snowcapped White by BEHR), and painted the banister a gray color called Stone Isle by BEHR. Not only did it make the staircase feel more up to date but it also brightened the entryway. It took away the feeling of a cabin inside to more of an airy vibe and I love that.”

One of my absolute favorite features of the home is our stone fireplace. It can be seen from the entryway and it gives so much interest to the family room which is located at the back of the home. It is the perfect addition in the home that makes fall and winter feel amazing inside.”

Lastly, another of my favorite spaces in our home is the seating area in our master bedroom.”

Qui’s Fall Glam Home Bedroom

“I decided to recreate –while adding my own twist– a look that I fell in love with and can be seen in my all time favorite furniture store Restoration Hardware. I created my very own mirror wall with a few beautiful pieces that stood out to me at first glance. I spent a little time finding mirrors that I loved so I finished that wall over the course of about 6 months. It has been a few years since completion and I still love it just as much as I did when it was first complete. We found some amazing arm chairs from Ashley’s Furniture store for seating, added an amazing art piece found at HomeGoods, and a nesting table set found on sale at Target for an estimated $40. It is the perfect space to wake up viewing and wind down enjoying.”

“Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved setting beautiful spaces. Now that we no longer have to move around so much, I have that freedom to spread my creative wings and decorate to my heart’s desire. Though some of the projects can be very tedious and sometimes a little difficult, I enjoy every single bit of it!”

“Thank you so much Janet for choosing to feature our home. I am humbled and grateful. Styling this home to suit the aesthetic of our family’s vibe has been so fun and amazing. I love seeing everyone enjoy their personal spaces and our main living spaces. I think for me, that is the best reward of all.”

Lots of beautiful glam decor and inspiration. Thanks for sharing, Janet.

  2. I like the blue bedroom with the fluffy ceiling pendant. The rest of the house has many beautiful things, but it’s so overly adorned that it makes it appear cluttered.

    1. That is a lovely room indeed!

Having the broadening experiences from many relocations must certainly heighten your sense of what matters in how you “live” at home. Your home conveys a global, worldly vibe. I can see why you love your stone fireplace too!

Congratulations on giving the home the expression that is yours without costly major renovations!
