French Country Fridays 3: Farmhouse Style | Blooms | Collections

Welcome in to French Country Fridays, where we share the charm of French style decor every Friday! As I write this the evening before, I’ve spent the day styling and shooting for some upcoming blog posts so that I can take my birthday weekend off. The house is clean and fresh and I’ll be chiming in from our beach house this weekend over on my Instagram account, so follow me there and let’s connect.

Speaking of cleaning, my vintage French tufted sofa was in need of such after quite a few years now of living in my home. I designed the bottom cushion with a white cotton twill slipcover, but since then have replaced our full size washer/dryer with stackables and it wouldn’t fit! Off to the dry cleaner it went and it’s fresh and clean and whiter than the rest of the sofa. Any tips for me on how to clean that button tufted back? It’s looking mighty dingy now and I’d love your suggestions!

Lets see what everyone is sharing with you this week:

    1. Thanks for that reminder!

  3. Now that fabric paint is a thing, how about whíte fabric paint??? How did you make/get your seat so thick? I love it, and want to get my seat cushions thick to.

    1. Hi Ivory! I designed it to be extra thick and to look like a mattress. Lots of feather and down and quilt batting wrapping that.

  4. I love your sofa & the thick cushion, did you make one foam, feather wrap cushion or did you stuff the wrapped cushions in the covering. I’m going to look at one similar & it has 3 cushions but I want a solid one or would it work to put all 3 in the cover.
    Thanks Janet.

    1. Hi Betty,

I designed it and had my seamstress make it to my specs. It’s one large piece of thick foam with feather stuffed around it and then a muslin cover. On top of that I had a slipcover made with a zipper, so that it could come off for cleaning. Good luck with your project!
