My Kitchen Demo Update, Cold Weather Fashion & More! Musings 20

Welcome to Morning Musings once again, a personal post that I share from time to time with a little bit of this and that! The format may change slightly, depending upon what I have to talk about. So grab a cup of coffee ☕️ and join me!

LET’S GET PERSONAL

Things have been busy here and probably why I haven’t gotten to one of these personal posts in weeks! Between family things, work commitments and taking a week off at the beach, I am behind where I’d like to be for November. The time just flys by these days and in two weeks will be Thanksgiving! It’s going to be a very quiet Thanksgiving here this year, but we always remember what we are thankful for, nonetheless.

In other news around here, tropical storm Nicole is set to roll into Florida tonight as a hurricane. It looks like the central part of the state will experience the worst of it, but it’s so big that the entire state will be blanketed with rain! Already raining here this morning and the county has opened the flood gates to release water from the canal behind our property to avoid flooding.

WHAT I’M LOVING IN DECOR

If I ever get the time, then boy…do I have a lot to share about our kitchen remodel! Actually we are just getting started and getting through the demo stage right now. We spent several full days sorting and packing up the existing kitchen first and it’s as exhausting as moving!! The 60 year old kitchen in this house is finally going to be full on new, and not just a facelift.

There are several things that I’m most happy about. One being the useless soffits are torn out and the room will look so much taller now! The only thing that we will be repurposing are some of the countertops and will repair the floor and keep it. As you know, kitchen renovations are expensive and it’s just not in the budget to do new flooring at this time. I think that once everything is in then the flooring won’t be that noticeable and I’ll live with it. I’m super excited about a couple of brands that I’m partnering with, including Ilve for this stunning 40″ Italian Dual Fuel Range in Grey/Blue and Hoodsly for this curved with brass strapping hood fan cover. The look that I’m going for will be a modern European vibe and here is my mood board image once again. To say that I’m excited would be an understatement! I’ve waited a very long time for my dream kitchen and worked hard for it 😀

WHAT I’M WEARING

In many places here in the U.S. (and Canada) it’s chilly, or will be soon! Not so much in So. FL where I live, but with upcoming travel I need a few fresh winter capsule wardrobe pieces. I tend to stick to classic yet relaxed styles and nothing too trendy. Turtlenecks are often what I gravitate to in terms of tops, like this long sleeve asymmetrical turtleneck knit pullover, which I ordered in white! By the way, white can definitely be worn in winter and is quite chic when paired with black. Here’s another loose fitting turtleneck sweater that I love and it goes well with jeans or slim slacks. An easy capsule wardrobe for home and travel with black and white as the base colors and then accessorized works for any woman (myself as an example)! This oversized loose fitting v-neck hoodie suits well for staying cozy around the house or doing errands. It covers the behind and I have this in both black and in white.

In slacks I wear a petite, since I’m about 5’3″ or so and I definitely have my go-to pants. For dressing up I like these velveteen pants from NYDJ and I have several pairs of the Petite Marilyn jeans, which you can’t go wrong with for comfort and fit!

I’m planning on a full winter capsule wardrobe post soon, so stay tuned for that and let me know what you’d like to see in the comments below!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS I’M USING

A couple of years ago when I was visiting my daughter in San Francisco, I stumbled upon the beauty brand Elizabeth W. I fell in love with the scents that are clean, simple and sophisticated and this mint rosemary hand cream is my favorite! Their lavender cream smells like the fields in France and the Vetiver shea butter lotion is luxurious. You will not be disappointed in their products and a little bit goes a long way.

WHAT I’M COOKING & EATING

Since I’m just getting going using my laundry room as a kitchen, I thought that I’d share some of the tools I bought for that. The remodel will likely take a couple of months, and I’m not a take-out kind of girl! So I purchased this double burner induction cooker and this really terrific set of induction pots and pans. To keep the room organized I purchased this pot and pan organizer rack and this adjustable storage shelf system.

I’m going to try and post some more info about my set up in the laundry room soon! In the meantime, visit my AMAZON STOREFRONT for most of the items and more.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I think that the Starz network has some of the best shows streaming on the internet! A new series Dangerous Liaisons just released this week and it’s been done before. But, if you enjoy historical drama about life in France’s royal court in the 18th century it promises to be worth your time!
