Noncommittal PINK In Design…and A Studio Creation

As little girls growing up, most of us love the color pink. Since early modern times the color pink has been associated with baby girls and of course blue with baby boys. Who didn’t have a pink room or at least a pink coverlet in their room as a child? A favorite pink dress perhaps?

We grow up and move on and with family and men in our lives at home, pink rooms seem to be few and far between! That doesn’t have to mean a complete lack of pink in decor or putting the kibosh on color! Just a few simple touches in a vignette bringing in the feminine touch that sometimes just soothes the soul and takes us back….

As I sat drinking my morning coffee a short while ago I noticed that our ginger bushes outside of the family room window were bursting with pink blooms…

Our bedroom mantel has been calling out to me for a weekly restyling lately, so I grabbed a few other pink pieces to set things up. The pink planter is an unusual vintage McCoy piece and I set the ginger in a jar with water right inside. If you have a planter with holes that won’t hold water, this is an easy way to use it to hold fresh florals…

Pale pink Stock that gives off a beautifully perfumed scent and some pink wax flowers are set into a large pickle jar that I had painted Pink. You can read more about that HERE

Antique French books in pink and a vintage pink rhinestone clock give a hard contrast to the soft lines of the flowers. I’m always looking to combine not only color in styling vignettes, but that combination of hard lines and soft flow…

Just a dash of pink perfection for the mantel, nothing that HE will object to or even notice…

Speaking of pink, I’m sharing a commissioned piece that I just finished up over the weekend for a client. I can be easily reached on the website or here on the blog if interested in a custom order…
