Thursday Fall Decorating Talk

Yesterday I started dragging the bins out of my garage to see what I have for fall. Although it still feels like 168 degrees outside, there are always so many things going on that it’s catch as catch can around here. Below is a snippet screenshare of former fall look that I worked on with Birch Lane a couple years back. While I still have it all, things move around and the rug now lives in my daughter’s room, the quilt in our master bedroom.

I tend to approach a seasonal change in my home by color first. I feel that it’s important to select at least one color to flow throughout the home to make rooms seem connected. In our spaces it makes sense to use blue, since we live on the coast. Then I choose a secondary and tertiary color and add in lots of texture.

Every year I pick up a couple of new pillows, throws and accessories to freshen up. Today I’m sharing some finds that you would have to scoop up quickly, because things go quickly on this site. Do you need a little fall inspiration?

First of all, I love your fall color palette. It’s so tasteful and at home in your space. Also, thank you for using pine cones. I’m surrounded by evergreen and pine cones in the Pacific Northwest, but local decor enthusiasts seem reluctant to use our natural bounty before December. Your blog is wonderful.

  2. Look at all those darling things! I love the subtle fall colors of the pine cones against your white and blue. I might steal that concept! 🙂 Thanks for the ideas from your gorgeous spaces – stay cool over there!
