Transitional Style Farmhouse Home Tour

A timeless transitional style farmhouse is showcased in today’s home tour. It’s truly hard to believe that the homeowners have lived here only for a few short months! With lots of neutrals, layers and textures it’s a look that inspires so many. Come tour the home of my good friend today…and one that you may possibly already know. Nestled in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, it’s become a true sanctuary and a second “forever home”!

“Hi! My name is Yvonne and I blog over at StoneGable. I’m thrilled to be here at Shabbyfufu today. Janet is a wonderful friend and a master blogger and decorator! “It’s hard to believe I’ve been blogging for over 11 years. It’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done. StoneGable started out as a way to connect and help my newly married daughter as she set up her home miles away. Who knew I’d connect with millions of women who were so like-minded!

“I am an empty nester living with my wonderful husband Bobby and our cat Hobbes. Our children and grandchildren do not live near us. I’m so thankful for Facetime!”

StoneGable (the blog) was named after our previous home…our forever home.”

“Last year, actually almost one year to the day, we moved from our beloved forever home! I must be honest, I cried for weeks!!!! It was almost like a death. We had never planned to move but we found a home that was just so perfect for where we were in this season of life! So we downsized and moved to the Tanglewood House.”

“Now here we are and I can happily say that the Tanglewood House is our second forever home! We love living here! I don’t like the word “downsizing”. It sounds like you lose something. We actually gained so many things we could have never imagined! The Tanglewood House is a home full of unexpected blessings!”

“It’s been so fun to decorate a new home! In our first year we have painted our entire open concept home, every single speck!!!!! We have rebuilt the fireplace, ripped all the carpeting out of the bedrooms and loft and installed hardwood flooring to match the rest of our home. We also built a bookcase across the back of my office, landscaped around the entire house and, remodeled the kitchen. In other words, we have been living with a bevy of construction workers and landscapers.”

“Our current home is a very different style than our previous one. It’s been so interesting to bring my “StoneGable” style to this new space.  Tanglewood has a more contemporary vibe so I have decorated it a little less Farmhouse and a little more Transitional. It’s a fun challenge to decorate an open concept home!”
“My favorite room here is our kitchen! I think because the transformation was so great!”
Some before shots below…
“Our new white kitchen now looks like it belongs to the rest of our home.  My sister who is a professional chef says I could do a cooking shows from our kitchen! It’s so open and laid out to invite people to be in this space. It is a dream of a kitchen to work in!”
“There is still more to do and decorate at the transitional style farmhouse Tanglewood House.  I’m all about transforming spaces in our home! Next year will be a busy year with more construction!”
Again, thank you Janet for sharing my home and bits of my life with your readers. Please stop by StoneGable! My front door is open to friends old and new!

Your home is beautiful!! 2 questions-where did you purchase your leopard rug and burlap type curtains from? Thanks

    1. HI Emily, the rug came from Ruggables. It is stain resistant and has a separate waterproof pad. And it can be thrown in the washer and dryer if it gets too stained. With lots of family visiting and pets too this rug has been perfect for our dining room.

The curtains I think you are talking about in our sunroom came from Ballard Designs. They linen with little white raised dots.

      Hope this helps!!
