Favorite Remodeling Projects – Updating Our Home
This year we have tackled several favorite remodeling projects. In this post I’m sharing some of these home improvements and ideas to inspire renovations. These projects were large and put the household in temporary chaos. Now that we are on the other side of that it’s all been so worthwhile! Please visit my friends who are sharing their own home improvement projects today and thank you to Lory of Designthusiasm for putting this all together.
My Favorite Remodeling Projects – Home Improvement
Laundry Room Renovation
We have lived in our home for most of our married life and raised our family here. The laundry room started out life as a photography studio that was an addition by a former homeowner. It was an exterior room with a separate entrance from the rest of the home and a window unit a/c. I had used it as an art studio for several years and during the construction of a large addition to our home we integrated that room to the home floor plan. It was plain and simple and had a couple of various small renovations over the years.
I’ve waited a long time for the laundry room of my dreams. Working with the blueprint of the room and the confines of the existing plumbing layout, this is pretty much my nirvana! We kept most of the cabinetry that was part of a former remodel and gave it a fresh coat of paint and new gold hardware. New quartz countertops were installed as well as the new front loader washer and dryer. The pièce de résistance of the room is the beautiful porcelain wall tile. With a distressed elegance and the blue tones, it carries continuity across our home.

In the interest of keeping our budget intact we not only saved the cabinetry, but reused the existing laundry sink. I love being able to hand wash delicate items, bathe the dogs and use the sink for floral arranging too! I’m in this room often during the day and do some of my messy DIY projects as well as gift wrapping on the generous countertops. The cabinets also serve as a butler’s pantry for dish storage, so this room is highly multi-functional.
For the dirty laundry we retrofitted an existing cabinet door to slide open and reveal a roll out laundry cart. You can see the BEFORE & AFTER REVEAL of the entire laundry room favorite remodeling projects in THIS POST.
Favorite Remodeling Projects – Master Bathroom
While I adore the new laundry room, our master bathroom renovation is another very special space! Once again we tried to save what worked well and kept the existing cabinets. In full disclosure I have been very fortunate to be able to work with several brand partners on these projects. For more on the bathroom renovation, head to THIS POST and THIS ONE. You won’t believe the before!!

Last (but not least) we recently replaced the flooring in 3 of the bedrooms (two are now home offices) with luxury vinyl plank.

What’s in store for 2020? Honestly we have done much of the major work in updating our Miami home. We also completed changing out all of the windows along with French doors to impact resistant for hurricane protection. Installation of a large propane tank and new generator was finished. New front doors are on the agenda to replace the current doors that leak. and in addition to that are planning some exterior curb appeal projects. Indeed I’ll be taking you along on all of the adventures to come in 2020, so stick with me!
