18+ Winter Beauty Must-Haves for Mature Women Over 50/60

Post updated in Dec 2023

Winter beauty must-haves are here in this post. Why? Because winter can leave my hair and skin feeling and looking dull and dehydrated. Although I’m lucky because I live in Florida and winter here is far more gentle than in other places, the dropping temperatures call for a change in my self-care routine.

Today I’m sharing some of my ultimate winter beauty products that help me care for my skin, hair, and well-being when the winter weather hits.

Best Winter Skincare Products for Women Over 50:

The best skincare routine for your 50s (and beyond) depends on many things. Your skin type, genetics, and lifestyle play a huge role in what and how you should care for your skin, just to name a few.

There are a few key products to have in your daily skincare routine to make you look and feel your best, no matter the season or your age. Simply click on the BLUE LINKS or on the photos for more information on the products and to shop!

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 PA+++

supergoop 'unseen' sunscreen bottle

Living in Florida, I’m diligent about wearing sunscreen. But it really doesn’t matter where you live or even the season you’re in, sunscreen is a step you should always have in your routine.

My go-to product? Supergoop! Unseen sunscreen.

The “unseen” part in this sunscreen name is no marketing tactic: it truly blends into the skin, protecting you from the sun and giving you zero white cast or dry patches. It has a gel-like consistency that may feel a bit too thick at first, but it melts into the skin after a few minutes.

If you enjoy wearing full-coverage foundations, this one can feel a bit to heavy. If that’s the case, Dr. Jart’s Every Sun Day,  innisfree’s daily UV defense sunscreen, or this Paula’s Choice SPF 50 hydrating fluid will probably work better.

Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner

Kiehl's calendula non-alcohol herbal toner

This soothing toner is one of the best ones I’ve used on my very sensitive skin.

Besides balancing the skin, this toner’s soothing calendula and non-alcohol formula can help to minimize redness and pores. I love how refreshed and hydrated my skin feels after using it. There’s no astringent feeling to it, something I’ve always found frustrating with other toners.

bareMinerals COMPLEXION RESCUE™

Although it seems easy enough, finding the right foundation for mature skin can be difficult. So, after much trial and error, I’ve found a few products that work best for older skin, like this bareMinerals tinted moisturizer

It’s lightly tinted and has 20 shades to choose from, which is always great to find your best shade match. It blends into your skin without settling into wrinkles and keeps your skin looking glowy but not shiny.

Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops

3 bottles of Isle Paradise Self Tanning Drops

Tanning drops… for winter?! Yes, I know it sounds a tad weird but I’m sure I’m not the only one who likes a little color, even in winter. Tanning drops are a genius way to keep that sun-kissed look without pulling up the bronzer or putting our skin at risk.

What I like about Isle of Paradise tanning drops is that they come in three different shades you mix with your favorite moisturizer. That way, you can easily customize how dark -or light- you want your tan to be.

Ultimate Strength Hand Salve

White bottle of Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve

With the constant use of harsh hand sanitizers, my hands were getting awfully dry. So, I acted fast and turned to one of my beauty staples; Ultimate Strength Hand Salve.

It’s a thick cream that can soothe, moisturize, and rehydrate cracked skin like no other, but it absorbs quickly. This cream leaves my skin feeling completely moisturized, but it also feels refreshing and cooling. Plus, it has a minty scent I just adore.

Kate Somerville® Radiant Skin Set

You can pamper your skin every morning and target aging signs with this trio kit from Kate Somerville. In this set, you’ll find 3 essential steps to care for your skin your and help you get a more radiant and healthy glow.
.What I love about this set is that along with the gentle milk cleanser and exfoliator, it also comes with a retinol and vitamin C cream. As you probably know, winter is the best time of year to introduce retinol to your skincare and get all of its amazing benefits!

Mesh Body Exfoliator

Mesh Body Exfoliator

Removing dead cells from your skin is crucial for a glowy and healthy complexion, but we often overlook our bodies in this area. Almost all body scrubs I have tried are too harsh on my skin, which is why I have been using this smart scrub cloth. The textured mesh fabric is soft on the skin and lightweight, perfect for gentle exfoliation. Another option is this one from Kitsch.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Light Comforting Cream

I absolutely will not do without a rich moisturizing body cream during wintertime. My holy grail to rescue winter skin dryness? The iconic shea-butter cream by L’Occitane!

If you suffer from ultra-dry skin, you’ll see a difference almost immediately after the first use. The skin gets plump and soft. This is the lightweight version, that’s perfect if you don’t like that bit of sticky layer shea butter creams often leave behind.

Best Haircare Products 2023: Winter Beauty Must-Haves for Mature Women

Revlon Hair Dryer And Volumizer

Revlon Hair Dryer Volumizer Brush

This hair dryer went viral on TikTok a couple of months ago, but it has been one of my beauty secret weapons for a long time. Why did it go viral, you ask? Because it’s amazing! It gives you a salon blowout in 20 minutes, leaving your hair shiny and smooth. I truly DO use this tool every single day!

It may look clunky, but it’s actually lightweight and easy to handle. If your arms can’t stand the weight of a regular blow drier for long or you’re not that good with a round brush, you’ll love this brush.

In fact, if your arms get tired easily or you’re not that good with a round brush, you need this dryer in your life.

My top tip: Wait until your hair is 50% dry, then divide it into three sections (bottom, middle, and top) and wrap your hair around the brush, curling it away from your face.

Honey Infused Leave-In Conditioner

Honey Infused Leave-In Conditioner Haircare

This is a heavenly honey-scented leave-in conditioner that helps you untangle your hair, leaving it feeling healthy and soft.

It won’t weigh down thanks to its runny and lightweight consistency and it’s also silicone-free, so you don’t need to worry about build-up.

Silk Pillowcase

Slip Silk Pillow Case for hair and skincare

There are a lot of silk pillowcases on the market and I’ve tried my fair share, but I always come back to this one

Regular pillowcases rub against your hair all night long, which can rough up your hair cuticles and this will lead to frizz, tangles, and damaged hair. It helps prevent damaged hair and skin, sleep wrinkles and you wake up without crazy bead hair! It’s so deliciously soft and makes going to sleep feel like a small luxury.

My advice to keep this in tip-top shape for years to come is to wash it on a gentle cycle and let it air dry.

Scalp Reviva Soothing Set for Oily, Itchy + Dry Scalp

Giving our hair some love as we age is so important, especially during the colder months. But often, we neglect our scalp health until it’s too late and we get a stinging, itchy, and flaky scalp.

This Briogeo set is one of my favorite beauty essentials for winter. With 5 products specifically curated to detox and moisturize dry, itchy scalps, this set includes the famous Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager.

Root Coverup Powder

Root-Coverup-Powder

Whether you’re between hair coloring appointments or just want to camouflage your greys a bit, this product is one fantastic option to have nearby. There are various shades available to match exactly with your hair color. The texture is creamy, so building it up and buffing it in is so simple!

Rapid Dry Hair Towel

Lisse's rapid dry hair towel in pink and grey colors

Another little beauty hack that has changed my hair game is using a micro towel turban. This microfiber towel turban speeds up my hair drying time drastically, and we know how important it is during chilly winter mornings!

The fabric is ultra-gentle and soft but gets the job done. It absorbs all that extra water without roughing up my hair and creating frizz.

Little Extras:

English Pear & Freesia Scented Candle & Room Spray

It’s no secret that I’m a scent lover, so I had to put this product on the list. While it’s not a beauty product per se, having my home smell heavenly lifts my spirits up during the winter blues.

This lovely English Pear & Freesia set has a fresh and fruity scent that transforms the room right away. This set includes a scented candle and a room spray.

Maison Louis Marie No.04 Bois de Balincourt Perfume Oil

And speaking of delightful fragrances… I can’t end this post without recommending this perfume. By far, this botanical and earthy scent is perfect for winter. Soothing and subtle, Bois de Balincour is perfect for everyday use. I like this oil with a roll-on version better, makes it much easier to carry it around!
