I’m starting to accept the fact that being outside here in Florida is not going to be fun for the next 8 or 9 months unless one is in the pool or at the beach. My projects are turning indoors now, as opposed to you dear inhabitants of the remainder of the globe. I’m bringing the outdoors in for spring and was inspired by…yard work. What? These home decor items are simply perfect. We were outside clipping back some of the bushes and I saw my husband dragging this large branch to the trash. It was sort of like the time that he drove right by a yard sale and I yelled STOP, TURN AROUND! Find out more on THIS POST to see why…

I had a vision pop right into my head of what I wanted to do with this perfectly wispy and wiry branch from one of our old wax myrtle trees that had broken off and was dried out by the sun…

A delicate delight and beautiful decor to add just a scattering of faux leaves. I decided on pale pink and white. You can find leaves in most craft stores and on Etsy, and I have a stash in my own studio for projects. They have wires on the end, so I wrapped each one carefully around the stems. In any large project, it’s a good idea to step back and look at the big picture to watch for the balance and flow that you are creating.

I love how this looks and had to wait until the morning to work on the project when the light was streaming into the living room. It took me about 15 or 20 minutes to complete. And yes, you can add so many other things to branches as well. You’d be limited only to the weight of the branches and your imagination. Isn’t thinking up decorative items for your home fun?

But first…it was morning and I needed my coffee fix. This was a recent gift and I didn’t feel right in asking where it was from, but I love it!

This past week Trader Joes finally had some ranunculus in for spring and I was so excited to grab all of the white bunches that they had! Although I’ve been yearning for pink, it’s looking like they won’t have them any time soon {insert~crying emoji}.

I filled some glass cylinders and added just a few other things to the mantel. Who knows, I may change it up later! I love styling this way with non~permanent pieces from my stash and florals.

A vintage birdcage is perfect for spring, and I have several. I dressed up the mantel with some sparkle from mercury glass candle holders that I use effortlessly for every season.

Another glass cylinder holds cut hyacinths that smell delicious. I keep a supply of eucalyptus in my styling stash for fill in and added them here as well. I’ve often been asked about drying flowers and I don’t do anything special.

If you notice the reflection in the mirror of the French wire cabinet with the crate on top you’ll see how I dry my flowers! As I said, nothing special…just toss them {ok, CAREFULLY place them!} into a crate with a fabric liner and keep them in a cool, dry spot…

We, too, are enjoying what will surely be a very short Spring, and then we will jump with both feet right into triple digits……unlike Florida, we do have a very dry heat! That's really no joke. We often have humidity in the single digits….lots of creaming going on with this body! Love your idea, and I've managed to catch a few of those branches and twigs, but so often my hubby is just too fast for me and they end up being all cut up! I think your mantel is stunning!
