In an otherwise white kitchen these teal cabinets and the black range add a great pop! When there is so much natural light coming into a home a deep color will tone things down. Using that colorway close to the floor assures that the room doesn’t appear shortened.

We recently featured this coastal home tour that is far from the coast in the mountains of Colorado. The homeowner Jane desired to bring in the look of a California beach house in a subtle way. Only the kitchen island was painted blue and you can see more of it here. Be sure to click over…it’s a lovely home with lots of DIY tips.

Subtle pale blue amplify the coastal breezy feel in this Charleston kitchen. The focal point is a La Cornue range with a stunning patterned tile backsplash that matches the cabinets.

Tired of all the white subway tile that we see in kitchens these days? Think about accenting a white kitchen with a blue glass tile backsplash.

When adding blue paint to kitchen cabinets, gold fixtures are the perfect marriage indeed!

This kitchen island is gorgeous and features informal seating for four and more of that yummy gold hardware that we love!

  1. They are all pretty however I would tire of the blue too easily. I’ll stick with the tried and true white kitchen with the rug being the pop of color, which can easily be changed out. But that’s just me!

    I love white on white

  3. I’m in with white. You never tire of it. Some blues are very cold looking. Although I love some blues my other hue is black.

  4. Whites are my choice as white makes food stand out at its best. These blues are gorgeous and chosen with care. Love that our design styles are different!

I recently redid my entire kitchen. The top cabinets are white and the bottom are cobalt blue. (I had dreamt of that color combination for years. I didn’t know it was so on trend). The new countertops are white quartz. The walls are brick and I added pops of sunshine yellow. I’m in love!

  6. Oh I am such a sucker for BLUE! In the first photo, the cabinets are the same color as the walls of my kitchen!

As owner of a gallery kitchen, we painted the cabinets a ivory color or coffee cream as the sample stated. We took the dark wood blinds off the windows and went with white/cream ones. As an added bonus, purchased Belgium Sheer curtains from Potty Barn in ivory same as the cabinets. With a found antique chandelier hovering above the dinning table, my kitchen is close to complete. To complete the dramatic, but no drama look is crystal knobs for the drawers and doors of the cabinets.

As most know kitchens can be either the bane of someone existence or the joy and heart of the home, it is my hope if you tackle a problem area or a complete redo of a kitchen, it will end up the love of your life!

Moral of the story….. don’t fall in love with a German knife. 😉

Love every one of them ! As far as I am concerned, there is nothing other than a blue and white kitchen. I have had one since the early 80’s–whether it be paint, wallpaper, cabinets, etc Right now, white cabinets and Susan Jablon curved white milk glass tiles, which show as light blue. Actually my whole house is usually blue and white !

  8. My favorite color is and will always be blue. When I moved into my house, the previous owner had painted all of the cabinets already a creamy cafe au lait color (originally, I believe they were a warm honey brown). I had debated on repainting, but haven’t decided if I will or not. The walls are a shade of gray that isn’t too dark and I love gray as well. The counters are white and my appliances are black. Eventually, I would like to change out the sink and faucet, definitely want to upgrade the faucet. So, for now, I will continue adding pops of blue here and there until I decide if I want to take the plunge and paint. 🙂

    1. My favorite has always been blue as well Michele and since I’m in a coastal area it seems to be the right fit here! Good luck with your projects!

  9. Citrineliving is my favorite! But your post about the color green is an inspiration too. Both colors – green and dark blue – are really wonderful. Thank you for your post.
