Christmas Outside In The Garden

Outdoor Christmas ideas can go beyond the front porch. For those of us who live far enough south this is especially true! With Christmas less than two weeks away we are finally enjoying some of what we live here for. The weather! While it’s not the blanket of snow that I’ve been enjoying seeing on Instagram in many parts of the country it’s been pretty darn nice. Finally.

We are able to shut down the overworked air conditioning system at our home and fling all of the French doors and windows open wide. This past weekend we enjoyed being in the garden and even had a fire going in the firepit to stay warm. It’s the holiday season indeed, but the Miami version and I’m not hating it ;-))
Speaking of Instagram and Christmas, today I’m joining in with a few of my Instagram friends in a HOME FOR CHRISTMAS link up, hosted by my good friend Lory of Designthusiasm. Be sure to keep reading to the bottom to view the other posts!

Outdoor Christmas ideas

We love to entertain outside in the garden and I anxiously awaited the sun starting to set to grab a few photos before it got too dark. Candles were lit and I brought some of the faux greenery out to the table and laid out a garland. Simple tablescape that looks like it took a long time with the greenery, a few shatterproof Christmas ornaments in my favorite soft metallic tones, votives and a pair of vintage tole candlesticks with blush candles and a centerpiece of seasonal fresh peonies in a copper pot. Sometimes peonies from the market need a bit of help and I have my tried and true suggestions for you to force them open IN THIS POST.

I highly recommend using non breakables at the top of my list of outdoor Christmas ideas!

Setting a pretty table with my antique blush floral French Limoges china, monogrammed napkins, modern flatware and the prettiest wine coupes that are…acrylic! If anything is going to be dropped or break outside it’s the drinking glasses that are carried around by guests. While I won’t do a paper napkin I’m in all the day long with plastic drinkware.

Just waiting for sunset, the guests and dodging the mosquitos that are always around down here by the water behind our home.

Bits of blush with the pink peonies, pink dinner tapers and the faux fur blush throw. Pink is always in style in my eyes, and apparently it’s pretty huge for Christmas this year. We didn’t do much outside in terms of lights or Christmas decor, other than a handful of string lights out in front of the house…but the table is festive in soft and subtle tones.

These chairs are perfect for outside because they are lightweight and can easily be moved around the garden. I’ll be sourcing everything below…and it’s starting to get dark with a golden glow coming in through the trees. Probably my favorite time of day, especially in the winter months.
