Coastal Christmas Decorating Ideas – In July

I know…before you start screaming at me that “IT’S WAY TOO EARLY”, I’m sharing this Coastal Christmas Decorating Ideas In July post to give you ideas! Feel free to change that dial if this doesn’t interest you, but before you do…I have an INCREDIBLE GIVEAWAY coming your way tomorrow. Be sure to check back in because honestly I think that this is the best giveaway that I’ve had to date! 🧨🎊🎉

COASTAL CHRISTMAS IN JULY – DECORATING IDEAS

What really got me going here with this theme was a file clean out! You see, as a stylist and freelance photographer as well as crafting this blog…I have tons of photos. Many thousands and I shoot raw images from my camera that are all stored on my Apple Macbook Pro. Every now and then I need to go through the image files and delete and/or simply move some to my external devices. I found a theme of coastal Christmas images that I made a file of and am sharing with you today. Granted, some are more coastal than others but I think that you’ll see a common theme.

Let’s just go with it and have fun…as this is decorating and that’s what it should be!

I think that you can probably tell by the above image that I do love some fun and whimsy when decorating seasonally. In this image I’ve taken a couple of inexpensive candle holders and turned them upside-down to use as bases. A pair of vintage bottle brush trees sits on top of these mini pedestals and the vignette is complete with a trio of well worn vintage glass balls. It doesn’t take much to create holiday vignettes in terms of budget and this coastal Christmas decorating ideas was all done inexpensively!

Coastal Christmas Decorating Ideas – DIY Projects

While not necessarily coastal inspired, the image below repeats my cause of budget holiday ideas that can be glamorous. A simple pink painted pine cone on a dinner setting takes things up a notch. Do you know that my Secrets To Painting Pine Cones post is years and years old and is consistently one of my post popular? In fact, it was viral on Pinterest and pinned I think like 100K times. Crazy, right?!!

Below is another popular DIY Christmas project that was basically free. See that tutorial HERE and be sure to save it! Jingle bells, jingle bells 🎶

No talent required to start gathering up some large jars. Fill with fake snow and although this isn’t necessarily one of my coastal Christmas decorating ideas, fill yours with sea shells and bits of beach glass. A sweet idea for a vignette and the concept can be changed out seasonally.

Coastal Christmas Decorating Ideas – In White

Ohhh, now these are some OLD photos, so I’m sorry for the quality of them.  I no longer have this white tree, but loved it our primary bedroom, embellished with aqua glass balls. More white and aqua on repeat in this theme and you can certainly copy this easily!

It’s no secret that I love vintage and often wrap gifts this way. The ribbon is made from torn sheets (vintage, of course!) and decorated with a sprig of boxwood, a vintage Shiny Brite Christmas ornament and a pine cone from my stash. The paper is plain white butcher paper, easily found on-line.

Behind the gift is a dressing screen that I covered in white lace. Hanging on it is one of my daughter’s ballet costumes from when she danced The Nutcracker years ago. Sentimental objects like this are perfect to save and use during the holidays. Do you have any that you might think of to use?

Vintage Nostalgia In Coastal Christmas Decorating Ideas

One of the easiest things for me to find at yard sales over the years has been Christmas memorabilia. Keep your eyes open when you shop NOW at thrift shops and those summer garage sales! This oversized wreath that I found for just $5 is a favorite to take out, every single year.

Simple evergreen sprigs tied with torn vintage ticking and berries to the back of an old French bistro chair that I have.

A few of the religious items that I found in France find their homes around my vignettes during the season.

Don’t overlook evergreen sprigs that can be a subtle yet powerful decorating tool in your holiday arsenal!

The Power Of Creating Vignettes

An old stadium bench with it’s original chipped up coastal green paint is juxtaposed against vintage glam. This “bowl” is actually a beaded light fixture turned upside down and filled with glass balls and draped garland.

A few more vignettes from years that have passed, but still in memory to possibly glean from again!

While I have sold many of these pieces over the years I hope that you grab some thoughts from this coastal Christmas decorating ideas.

These cardboard villages are much more available these days and can often be found now in non-traditional colors such as I like to use online.

I just had to sneak in a photo of Darby and Bartley from a few years ago. We sure do miss our Bartley boy but Darby is still with us and still loves to ham it up for the camera! They are sitting on a lovely navy blue velvet quilt from Serena & Lily.

Table Setting Tints

Soft colors to coordinate with the scene outdoors and this was such a simple tablescape to create.

Mixing metallics in an outdoor table in our garden that backs up to the waterview at home. Be sure to grab lots of eucalyptus during the holiday season for a budget friendly table and more!
