In this brand-new edition of our beloved home tour series, we are exploring a remodel that will make your jaws drop and your heart sing.
I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m a Studio McGee fan. Like, a huge fan. Can y’all blame me? I think not!
There’s just a special flair in the way they bring together their vision to life.
While their designs always bring out the homeowner’s personal style, there’s an underlying thread that makes it a distinctive McGee home design.
The McGee aesthetic already has a cult following, and you all only have to take one quick glance at some of their projects to see why.
Their homes are modern but respectful of heritage, mixing styles, and time periods with care and balance. Sometimes it’s an airy Coastal home, a muted earth-inspired one, or a soulful modern home. Other times, it’s a mix that speaks directly to the heart of the decor lover.
And in this remodel, y’all can see the best of their vision taking form. I’m serious, y’all, they’ve managed to capture my interior design-loving heart once again with this one!
Marrying an East Coast vibe with modern appeal and a bit of a rustic twist, this Cove remodel is just stunning. Simple as that.
At first glance, you already see their characteristic airy and streamlined spaces, but when you see the details and the before, that’s when you understand the sheer brilliance of this remodel.
Because y’all, let me tell you – this wasn’t just a little refresh situation!
We’re talking about a complete transformation that took a 1990s Tuscan-style home (think heavy brown hues, stucco, and faux stone) and turned it into this absolutely gorgeous East Coast prep meets California cool dream.
What started as a somewhat dated and dark space became this light-filled home that’s equal parts sophisticated, fresh, and most importantly, livable for a family with multiple kids.
So grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and let’s dive into this stunning transformation that’s turned into my new obsession!
Cove Remodel Home Tour: East Coast Meets Modern Luxe
What I love about this remodel is how every decision serves both beauty and function. This isn’t one of those gorgeous but untouchable spaces.
It’s a real home where kids do homework and parents cook dinner, but everything just happens to look absolutely stunning.
The kitchen transformation captures what makes this whole remodel so special. Instead of trying to work with the existing layout, the Studio McGee team made the smart call to completely reconfigure things, moving both the range and island to create a more efficient space.
The new configuration transformed how the kitchen works for a family that does serious cooking and entertaining.
With a custom walk-through pantry designed more like a high-end closet, with open shelves and hidden compartments, the storage and flow were totally improved.
Even the details like the sink with its marble drip edge, the custom cabinets painted in Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee, or the unlacquered brass hardware show the level of thoughtfulness here.
This kitchen nails what I love most about McGee designs – it’s sophisticated and smart, with every choice serving both form and function.
The Entryway: First Impressions That Deliver
The custom paneling in the entryway reaches all the way up to those high ceilings, while the staircase railings got a fresh update without removing their unique character.
That Regent sconce with the marble detail is such a thoughtful touch! Functional lighting also adds visual weight exactly where you need it.
The whole space just feels polished and welcoming, don’t y’all think?
The Living Room: Light, Space, and Architectural Drama
The living room transformation really comes down to those French doors.
They opened up what was probably a much smaller window situation and completely changed how the space feels.
The fireplace got a total makeover too, with new cast stone that’s way cleaner than whatever was there before.
I love how they handled the built-ins! Those arched tops keep them from looking too boxy, and the way they styled them is perfect.
Just books, a few simple pieces, and that mirror casually leaning against the mantel instead of being all perfectly hung. The dark coffee table is doing important work here, giving the eye somewhere to land in all that lightness.
Those woven chairs are such a good choice – they add texture that the smooth sofa doesn’t give you, and the whole color story stays really consistent. Swiss Coffee walls, warm wood, brass details. Even the pillows stick to navy and cream instead of throwing in random colors.
The Study: Smart and Streamlined
With strong clean lines, thoughtful built-ins, and a more masculine mid-century vibe, the home study is both functional and stylish.
The Breakfast Nook: Casual Elegance Done Right
The breakfast nook perfectly captures that effortless California-meets-East Coast vibe that this whole house does so well.
Built-in seating maximizes the space while keeping things comfortable for daily family meals.
The finishes tie seamlessly into the kitchen’s palette, but the scale feels more intimate and relaxed.
It’s the kind of spot I dream about! How about y’all?
The Master Bathroom: Marble Drama Done Right
The main bathroom is all about the luxe allure of marble. It wraps around the tub and up the walls, making the whole tub area feel like one cohesive architectural element. The freestanding tub gets framed by the window, and that brass lantern pendant adds just the right amount of glamour overhead.
The double vanity keeps things symmetrical with arched mirrors and brass sconces. That vintage rug brings in some pattern and warmth against all the marble, while the fiddle leaf fig in the corner softens the whole space.
Even the styling feels intentional – a few ceramic pieces, some greenery, and that wooden stool that adds a casual touch to an otherwise polished room.
The Primary Bedroom: Sophisticated Textures and Relaxed Vibes
The primary bedroom is a total dream of refined elegance with that easy, relaxed vibe Studio McGee is so good at creating.
The fireplace was repositioned to center it on the wall and styled with stacked artworks, right next to the four-poster bed that anchors the whole room with its strong presence.
The sitting area by the window creates a second conversation zone that just elevates the space.
The grasscloth nightstands add a woven texture element with white lacquer drawers and brass knobs that tie into the hardware story throughout the house.
The whole room feels like a sophisticated retreat that’s comfortable enough for everyday life but polished enough when you need it to be!
The Nursery: Simple and Sweet
The nursery is another one of my favorites! Having decorated my fair share, trust me when I say that decorating that magical allure for a newborn without being overly themed ain’t an easy feat. Yet, here they nail it.
The room has more classic lines, but the fresh beadboard treatment and delicate wallpaper give texture. Plus, the color scheme is utterly timeless.
It’s sweet and serene without falling into typical nursery clichés!
The Boys’ Room: Making Sloped Ceilings Work
They took one oddly shaped room above the garage and made two actual bedrooms out of it.
The sloped ceiling could have been a problem, but the design leans into it with a horizontal shiplap that makes the room feel wider instead of just low. The black iron bed has enough presence to work with all that ceiling action.
That window seat is pretty genius – it’s actually storage with drawers underneath, so they’re getting every possible inch of function out of the space.
The striped ottoman and pops of red and blue play nicely into the American meets Fishertown aesthetic these rooms have going.
The Girls’ Bedroom: Sophisticated Whimsy
In this girl’s room, we find similar architectural bones as the main room, but a much softer look.
The upholstered headboard features fabric ties, a cute detail that adds handmade quality to a house full of clean lines.
Paired with the coral pillow and patterned throw, it adds enough color against all the cream and white for a layered and delicate feel.
The Tween Bedroom: Growing Up Gracefully
This older girl’s room shows how the McGee approach evolves for different ages.
That beaded chandelier is definitely more statement-making than anything in the younger kids’ rooms – it’s glamorous but still age-appropriate.
The built-in dresser gets the same treatment as the other bedrooms, but that large abstract art piece and the styling feel more mature.
The room strikes that tricky balance of feeling special enough for a tween who’s developing her own taste, while still fitting into the house’s overall aesthetic.
Get the Look: Cove Remodel Essentials
After diving deep into this stunning McGee transformation, I know you’re probably eyeing every single detail and wondering how to bring some of that East Coast meets California cool magic into your own space. The good news? You don’t need a complete gut renovation to capture this aesthetic.
The secret sauce here is all about those foundational pieces that do double duty – beautiful enough to elevate your space, but practical enough for real family life.
Think of unlacquered brass hardware that gets better with age, Swiss Coffee paint that works in literally every room, and those woven textures that add instant warmth without overwhelming clean lines.
These are the building blocks that make McGee designs feel so effortlessly sophisticated, and they’re totally achievable in your own home.

Lighting Tips That Instantly Elevate Any Space

Not a fan of white on white on white. But love the wicker that breaks it up. Looks like the bedroom finally got some color in that house.
Totally get that! White on white isn’t for everyone, but the texture from the wicker really does warm things up. And yes, that little pop of color in the bedroom makes such a difference. It brings the whole space to life.
