Blue is a color that I’ve loved ever since I can remember with it’s soothing nature, symbolizes the sky and sea. Blue is known to lower the heart rate and alleviate stress. Therefore the body calms down and relaxes naturally. I’m sure that you’ve noticed many doctors offices and treatment rooms are painted in pale blue tones and this is why!

As for pink, it is a healing color and can calm and nurture in softly muted shades. With pink and blue as your accent colors you can create a serene vibe in your home. I know this because I live this and am one who tends to avoid conflict and prefers peace.

Are you thinking you might want to decorate with calming colors or at least try a few hints here or there? A few petite pieces purchased on-line will help you get there quickly and here’s what to consider…

Decorate With Calming Colors – 5 Quick Tips

  1. Pillows – Add It
One of the fastest ways to add your own mark in the home is with pillows. I’m sure that you must already know this, but it can really create a dramatic change! Whether you are trying to be on trend with the latest or simply to try something new, how about some fresh pillows? I decided to decorate with calming colors for summer that will take me into fall by adding a few new pillows. These pillows are constructed from faded Oushak carpet and a bit nubby. Will link them for your convenience below!
  2. Furniture – Paint It
In the master bedroom I have a piece of really old French furniture that I picked up about 20 years ago at a flea market. Back when I bought it, I painted it with milk paint in a soft calming blue. It was missing it’s top and I created a template and had our fabricator make a pink marble top for it. A piece like this isn’t a statement piece, rather it blends quietly into the background and is quite versatile.milk paint french furniture
  3. Flowers – Fake It
Many of us (myself included) have our groceries delivered these days. That means that along with our food we may not have access to grocery store flowers. Fake flowers (check out THIS FLOWER ARRANGING POST) are so good lately. A great way to decorate with calming colors in every room! You will definitely save money buying fake or faux flowers. Without a doubt, weekly flowers can be costly!decorate with calming colors flower arranging
  4. Throws – Cozy It
With the a/c on full blast mostly all year round a throw is never far away! Stock up on throws in calming colors and in a variety of thicknesses. Besides…you can store them easily and they add lots of color when you drape widely over a chair!french chair with cavalier king charles spaniel
  5. Bedding – Layer It
Start with a neutral color bed as well as white sheets. Next I layer it with blankets and throw pillows in my preferred color way of pale blue and alternately I use a bit of blush pink.bedding decorate with calming colors
