Lately I’ve been craving more inspiration from interiors that carry that beloved balance of vintage and modern, with traditional elements and contemporary touches.

While doing some research, I stumbled upon Bria Hammel’s work, and let me tell you, I was absolutely smitten!

From the pages of Traditional Home to the digital domains of Architectural Digest and Forbes, her designs are catching everyone’s eye – and for good reason!

Hammel has a memorable take on classical styles that feel fresh and modern but still respectful of heritage. What’s more, she’s assembled a dream team of talented women designers who share her vision for creating homes that are both beautiful and livable. And trust me, walking that line is not as easy as it may look!

Now, let’s dive into this edition of Designer Spotlight and get inspired by some of the stunning work of Bria Hammel and her team.

Let’s start, shall we?

Designer Spotlight: Bria Hammel’s Fresh Traditional Flair

Abounding with Hammel’s signature style, the Middleton House in Wisconsin is a perfect example of how Bria and her team blend Southern-inspired preppy charm with contemporary touches.

Just take a look at the living room!

The classic console table in rich wood tones anchors the space beautifully, while that oversized blue and white striped sofa adds a pop of coastal chic.

The wrap-around porch is a Southern dream, don’t you think? It feels like an extension of the home, which is no easy feat.

The stone wall provides a rustic backdrop that contrasts beautifully with the clean lines of the white columns and ceiling. The hanging swings are not just a seating option – they’re the focal point that draws the eye.

This reading nook is so delightfully quaint! I love how it’s a perfect example of form and function. The built-in shelving maximizes storage while doubling as a dreamy alcove.

The choice of emerald green for the cushion is brilliant—it’s bold enough to make a statement but doesn’t overwhelm the neutral backdrop.

Blending traditional elements with fresh, modern touches, this home feels timeless yet thoroughly contemporary!

The renovation of Nob Hill House is another project that is just enchanting. Here, high-end finishes blend with livable and family-friendly spaces.

Notice how the rough texture of the bricks contrasts beautifully with the smooth marble countertops in the kitchen. The wooden beam above the range is a clever touch, bringing an element of rustic charm to the polished space.

The brass hardware on the cabinetry adds a touch of elegance and ties in nicely with the pendant lights. These design choices create a kitchen that’s both functional and visually stunning.

Moving to the breakfast nook area, we see Bria’s skill in creating inviting, multi-functional spaces. The custom-built bench seating is a brilliant use of space!

The table is pure farmhouse elegance, and when paired with the black Windsor-style chairs, the effect is striking.

The muted green walls, ceiling, and fireplace create a cocooning effect in this living room. The mix of textures and colors – from the caramel-brown leather armchair to the suede sofa and the rug – creates layered simplicity at its best.

This restrained palette lets the room’s clean lines and architectural elements shine, balancing coziness with refinement.

There are delightful surprises in the home, like the powder room. The whimsical floral wallpaper is so unique and its colors feel like a playful extension of the home color palette.

The pedestal sink and wainscoting keep the room feeling delicate and airy, with the uniquely shaped mirror adding a charming touch.

Long Lake House is another favorite of mine in Bria’s portfolio.

In the dining area, there’s a mix of natural textures and vintage-inspired decor that complements the built-in bench and shelving. It’s such a cozy space!

The kitchen continues this theme, combining a marble countertop with warm wood tones and woven accents.

The mudroom showcases Bria’s talent for functional yet stylish spaces, with rich green built-ins providing ample storage and plentiful charm.

Throughout, Bria’s signature approach is unmistakable – creating inviting, livable spaces that don’t sacrifice style or sophistication.

Hammel’s deft hand weaves a tapestry of textures – rough-hewn wood, smooth ceramics, sleek modern finishes, and woven baskets – each element harmoniously working together.

In the Indianapolis House project, we see a marvelous blend of classic sensibility with a good dose of contemporary edge.

The kitchen oozes understated elegance with just the right touch of rustic flair.

Custom cabinetry, painted in soft white, pairs beautifully with the sleek marble countertops and golden accents.

The living area feels both luxurious and comfortable. There’s a gentle contrast between the traditional details and the room’s more modern elements. The chinoiserie collection showcased in the arched built-in bookcases is a wonderful complement to the serene painting above the fireplace.

The color palette -soft blues, creams, whites, and lilacs- lends a quiet luxury feel balancing the more intricate decor accents.

In the dining area, we see the same dynamic between styles. The beaded chandelier and striking artwork are focal points that give the room a more whimsy feel. The decor ensemble here has such a lovely texture and warmth!

Moving on, we have this cozy little office nook, and my oh my, isn’t it just perfection?

The white built-in desk and shelving unit work as a beautiful contrast against the moody gray grasscloth walls.

The bedroom has an almost ethereal feel to it, with delicate hand-painted style wallpaper and a four-poster bed.

I hope you liked this designer just as much as me! There’s truly an art behind functional yet stylish spaces, isn’t it?
