DIY Makeover Ideas – A Family Home Tour
Living Room Makeover
Carmen and her husband wanted to change the feel of their living room and make it feel less confining.
So, to open up space, they removed the double doors leading to the room and added cased wood beams around the opening using faux wood paneling from Lowes. This idea is such a genius and budget-friendly way to add more space to a room!
How to Transform a Kitchen – DIY Style
Looking for a quick and easy way to make your kitchen look new but don’t have the budget for a complete remodel? Then, take notes on this amazing diy makeover!
Carmen did a total transformation of her kitchen, painting her cabinets white and dark grey, and the results are incredible!
She shared some tips and hacks on how to get the best results on her two-part process.
Before the makeover, the kitchen was dated and made the room feel small.
The ‘after’ kitchen looks so much better! It now has a modern and airy feel that fits with other elements in Carmen’s home.
A Dreamy Office Remodel
The home office went a complete 180 renovation with a couple of small decor changes, breathing new life into the room.
Airy and modern, this home office space may be small, but it’s practical and stylish.
The stunning watercolor-style abstract wallpaper sets the color scheme for the whole room; White, navy, and soft pinks.
To create symmetry, Carmen added a faux shelve frame. The real shelf decor was curated with a selection of books and decor items.
Navy Ikea drawers and a butcher block turned into a stylish double desk that perfectly matches the wallpaper colors. Complementing the navy and pink, Carmen also added three wall sconces in gold.
From Drab to Fab: The Master Bathroom
Carmen pulled off this master bathroom diy makeover brilliantly.
She painted the previously white walls into a soft grey-sh hue, while the vanity was painted in a deep teal shade to complement the exposed wood accents.
Then, she added a faux marble countertop using contact paper to create the look of real marble without having to install any additional materials. (Can you get more budget-friendly than that? I think not!)
A seeded glass vanity light fixture, glass door knows, a new faucet, and a matching towel ring were the last details that add just enough glam to complete this master bathroom renovation!
Laundry Room DIY Makeover Ideas Project
Carmen shared the result of 6 weeks of intensive makeover work that truly paid off in this laundry room tour.
Carmen designed the room to make the most of a relatively small space. Especially for a room with such a daily and necessary use!
The colors of the floor and wall tiles played a huge role in this upgrade. The light scallop-patterned tile walls paired perfectly with the dark floor tiles. This combo makes the room look stylish but functional at the same time.
Next, Carmen and her husband tackled the organization area, an essential part of any laundry room. Again, they went with DIYed open shelving made of wood, adding a rustic touch to the place.
Above the shelvings, a couple of sconce lamps give off a vintage feel that goes well with the tile design.
Small Master Closet Upgrade
Storage is a complicated thing for almost all of us. But, in a family home, this can get even more difficult! In this master closet DIY makeover, Carmen worked her magic again and turned a small closet space into a stylish and practical one.
How? She first added the AURDAL system and then tackled the walls by painting them in a dark shade.
This choice may seem counterproductive in a small space, but it works beautifully. It makes everything look more organized and clean. Then, she did a diy makeover with a patterned wallpaper addition to the ceiling. A stunning gold lamp then made the pattern of the wallpaper stand out beautifully.
Carmen also did something similar in her cleaning closet. Just look at this jaw-dropping before and after.
These DIY makeover ideas just goes to show how important having a place for each item is to keep things organized!
A Chic Neutral Nursery
Now, let’s take a look at this special part of this home. The nursery!
When you look at this nursery, the thing that catches your eye is the gorgeous color scheme. All the items are subtle and make the room feel serene, something perfect for a new baby.
This is an excellent example of using gender-neutral colors that can work beautifully and how the pops of color can come from personal items like books and toys.
Guest Bathroom Complete Makeover
In another fabulous makeover reveal, Carmen shared how she completely remodeled her guest bathroom. These diy makeover ideas are such wonderful examples of how you can elevate a room with a tight budget!
Carmen left no stone unturned on the diy makeover bathroom reno. Besides redoing all the plumbing and electrical changes needed, she replaced the floor tiles and the vanity. In addition, sinks and faucets, knobs and pulls, plus mirrors and lighting, were replaced to make the design come together.
Now, the bathroom has a charming style that’s both modern but has a vintage edge. The dark hues, accentuated by the contrast of the white subway tiles, sinks, and fabrics, make this room feel incredibly chic.
Carmen’s DIY Makeover Ideas tour shows that you can create a charming space without spending a lot of money! It’s incredible how a few minor changes can have such a visual impact and improve the functionality of a family home.

It does sound perfect…I love touring homes and glad that you enjoy these!
I love what she did. It looks like she carried the colors throughout, which I think helps in a smaller house. Thanks Janet.
