Fall Home Decor Ideas- My Autumn Home Tour

If you’re looking for fall home decor ideas, today’s autumn home tour is sure to inspire your creativity! Creating continuity in your home with basic elements of design is key.

Thanks to my friend Sheila of Maison de Cinq for putting together a few of us for a home tour today! It starts with color, but as you may have noticed I don’t use much of it! When I do use color it’s generally softly muted and reflected by the light in my home. My fundamental accent colors of blue and pink are carried throughout from room to room and season by season. It sure does make decorating much easier and more successful…don’t you think? My fall home decor ideas were sketched out, but only in my head. Blue was going to be the primary color and I seem to have plenty of it.

Texture would say fall is here, even though in South Florida it’s still 486 degrees outside. That’s how it feels anyway! I think that velvet is perfect and timeless for the cooler months and this pumpkin with feathers says it all. Or a collection of blue velvet pumpkins!

Copper and gold metallic accents alway show up and show off in my fall home decor. Grey is another color that speaks softly of fall and adding texture with some throws for warmth.

A softly muted “pumpkin patch” on the dining room buffet and I always look forward to bringing these out. Fall home decor has such a cozy feel and speaks of warmth, while Christmas shows off a cooler side.

The continuance of color from the dining room flows into the kitchen. I added some faux flowers in an oversized French pitcher and a large copper confiture pot that I can fill with apples in the fall.

With the newly remodeled laundry room (see that post HERE) close by I’ll add some fall branches (which I haven’t done yet).

Blue and grey in our master bedroom and a cozy fall plaid blanket for warmth.

The texture of a bohemian wall hanging that my daughter gave me.

The fireplace mantel opposite from our bed has some simple grey pillar candles, mini pinecones and a pumpkin. The drapes are the only ones in the house and are velvet with a blackout feature to keep the room dark at night.

Soft place to land…with a cashmere throw and teal blue velvet pillow.

    1. Thank you Sheila…I was gifted that copper pan by a friend recently and can’t seem to put it away!

  5. Your home is stunning! The simplicity of the colors make everything. I love how you did the new laundry room! Living in Florida with 99% humidity and 900 degrees outside kind of puts a damper on everything that I used on Long Island but I’m going for the same beautiful look! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks Lori and since I live here in Florida I definitely can relate!!

    Hey Janet,
I was just checking to see how your cavalier was doing? We lost our second cavalier Labor Day weekend, he was my favorite!! Loved him to pieces. Our third doesn’t even seem to know he’s missing which I guess could be a good thing. Thinking of you and yours they are special creatures!!

    1. I don’t think that I answered you on this one yet Emily…playing catch-up this morning. Oh my, I am so very sorry about the loss of your Cavalier. They are the most special creatures indeed and it’s devastating when we lose them. Darby saw the cardiologist for her 6 month check-up last week and she’s doing well with no changes as of yet. We are grateful.
