Fall Living Room In Blue
Looking for the perfect traditional year round accent color to carry continuity from room to room? My fall living room in blue is a breakaway from the norm of rust and golden tones often seen. It’s simple with just a few accents and I hope that it inspires you to go blue for fall!
If you’re coming over from Jennifer’s at Town & Country Living, welcome in.
It all started with THIS – one of my favorite rugs, that I have had rolled up in storage waiting for fall. Definitely a bold blue and it really makes the room come alive. Below is the same shot but with the chandelier turned on and it adds a golden almost sunshine glow. Plopping the coffee table in the center for a place to add a few fall accents makes it come alive. By the way…several of you have ordered THIS COFFEE TABLE and it’s now on sale for under $150 with free shipping! It’s classic and fits any style decor and ‘ll link it below (tap images to shop).
The next to roll out of storage were my velvet pumpkins and I look forward to seeing them each year! There still are no real pumpkins available in my area so I go to faux for now. My fall living room in blue is simple and complete with the arrangement on the coffee table and just a few other pieces. The velvet pumpkins can be found here, but I realize that not everyone has a budget for them. You can either make your own if the crafty type or I’ve linked some affordable alternatives below.
I added some DIY Copper Mason Jars (see the tutorial HERE) and a favorite candle with a decidedly fall scent on a vintage Florentine tray.
Fall Living Room In Blue – Design Tips
- Grouping several objects on a tray is a great trick to keep your area looking clutter free.
- Go for odd numbers to make your display more interesting.
- Select a tray that has some texture and varied color. When designing a fall room think seasonal colors of your choice.
Copper and gold are so fabulous for fall. The copper glow of the Florentine tray, the vintage copper flower bucket and the gold chandelier all add warmth. Since I’ve been in and out of town lately I had no real florals when I shot this, so relied on faux.
I found the blue ginger jar at a garage sale recently (actually a pair) and they seemed like a nice subtle way to add blue to the mantel. Bringing the blues up and around the room from the floor to the coffee table and mantel creates movement to the eye. The blue velvet pillow is from fall of last year and was stored away. I keep my extra pillows behind a decorative screen in my office when not in use. THIS is how I save so much space!
And throws are always handy for fall, so why not toss them into a pretty storage bucket? This large vintage copper bucket is multipurpose and circulates around our home frequently. My fall living room in blue came alive with color, texture and shine and I hope that it motivates you to consider the blues with a few ideas of your own! your home is always so beautiful! i love the blues with the copper… such a gorgeous combination.
Thanks Cassie and I’ll be over to see what you’re up to for fall too!
Your living room has way too much white. White walls and white furniture drown out your pretty rug! Maybe if you hung some artwork on the walls, it would help to make it more inviting.
We all have different opinions Susie and the most important thing is to love your own home. I love mine and hope that you enjoy your day.
Love the splash of Blue!
