Here is my copper story…
I’ve been a long time fan of copper and I think that it started when some pieces were handed down to me by my mother-in-law. Noooo, don’t donate those I said and in the car they went when visiting the family years ago! Like that gorgeous vintage copper flower bucket above. I’m not really sure what it’s original intent was with a narrow profile, but that allows it to fit on this mantel. If you too love vintage copper home accessories they are fairly easy to find these days. It’s one of the things that I keep my eyes out for when thrifting!

Copper in the kitchen can be functional and I bring much of my stash out for fall. If you’re a fan of copper home accessories then this is where you can make it shine…literally, and I LOVE this COPPER POLISH that I recently started using! Just bringing out a few pieces of copper can add a fall feel and it takes 20 minutes or less in this low key approach. I hung a couple of French copper frying pans on the wall with simple nails, since we have a downdraft range and no hood for hanging. Not only does it add sheen, but I use these pans often in cooking.

If looking to purchase a few copper pieces, go for versatility. A planter that can be used for kitchen utensils as well. A copper tray that can hold seasonal pieces for every season. My huge vintage copper bucket has been just one of those pieces that we use for so many purposes. For fall I filled it with some extra pillows and throws, and it’s also held huge bunches of florals and ice with cold beverages at a party! The small copper planter below was a yard sale purchase and that too is multipurpose.

Copper mercury glass adds an incredible glow to a room! I recently ordered THIS SET from Pottery Barn and if you’re a total DIYer did a post you might like to see on making your own – COPPER & GOLD MASON JARS TUTORIAL.

Autumn doesn’t carry a necessary need of pumpkins and can be a simple suggestion of the season. I talked about a pumpkin free fall in this post from the archives. If you (like me) aren’t a fan of orange, then adding copper home accessories gives the feels without the color! Are you going to be adding any copper to your home this fall? If you don’t have any copper thank think about starting your own copper story!

Thanks for the beautiful copper ideas. I am interested in the copper polish you use. The link will not open. I have several old copper pieces that are in dire need of a good cleaning and I have not found a good polish.

    1. You should have seen this copper before I cleaned it!! I refreshed the link, so try now.

When I was a younger homemaker, I had several copper pieces because they were trendy then. Unfortunately, I grew tired of polishing them because I had three kids and a busy life, so I donated them. I have regret for having done that and would love to still have them…especially when I see how beautiful yours look!

    1. Yes, copper was in and then out…like everything!

  3. I am purchasing the polish as soon as we get rid of this pesky hurricane – hope your places fare well. I am in Martin Co. I am a copper fan from way back – love it and display it too.

    1. You will be amazed at this polish!! We were all spared down here…thank goodness!

  4. Wow Janet, another post full of great advice. I don’t have any copper YET but when I see how lovely the color is in your photos it makes me want to get some! Thanks for your wonderful blog!

    1. Thank you so much Catherine and you should be able to find some great pieces of copper where you live!

  5. That copper cream must work miracles because your copper looks amazing.
