It’s not really as intimidating as it seems to set a quick and lovely table, and with the hot weather that has taken over I’m moving indoors today to the dining room to share a couple of fast ideas.

There were some simple flowers available last week at the market and with Mother’s Day and our anniversary I had a full house. Did I ever tell you that since we were married on a Mother’s Day the flowers that my sweet mother-in-law had arranged for were few and far between? My wedding bouquet was…

artfully arranged with silks mixed in and lots of pretty ribbon to make up for it. I thought that it would be fun to share a photo with you…sealed with a kiss! My husband looks like he was wearing some sort of head-dress, but it was me holding the bouquet in our romantic beach wedding.

Using one style or type of flower in a great big bunch can be so pretty and make a big impact. On the table this day we had some fragrant lilacs that I popped into a vintage French enamelware pitcher. These old French pitchers are generally too tall for most flowers and they are old so they leak. My trick for use with these is two-fold. Use a Mason jar inside filled with the flowers and water and raise up the jar by either rolling up some dish towels or newspaper to bring up the height of the flowers.

Plates stacked and my gorgeous new flatware from brand partner AMARA is just perfect for the summer look! They are classic and modern and at the same time they mix well with the antique French transferware and the other plates. You’ll find this FLATWARE HERE (affiliate links used in this post).

Here’s how I started transitioning the table setting easily from the lavender look to the white with pink.

I changed out the dinnerware and if you keep more than one set around it only takes minutes to do. Don’t be afraid to mix and mingle various patterns, whether you use everyday dishes, flea market singles or something like my dinnerware also from AMARA that you can find HERE. I went with all white dishes and added in some pink glassware, mixing vintage and new.

It’s the mix of vintage and new that I find give texture and interest to a table and the results truly are sizeable. Dripping candles brought in from the patio and although I wouldn’t light them like this to avoid a huge mess on the wood, an inexpensive flea market plate underneath or a piece of wood used as a platter would prevent that issue.

A white ironstone pitcher holds summer PINK PEONIES from the market and that’s all it took to bring this table to life.
