French Farmhouse Shabby Chic Home Tour

Come visit this French farmhouse shabby chic style home of a favorite designer friend in Bristol, Connecticut. I know that you’ll love as much as I do!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Waco, Texas with a small group of Instagram friends. I’ll be posting about that soon and taking to you to all of the spots that we visited. It’s always fun to go to these type of events and meet the ladies that you’ve know on-line, and since we all make our living in a similar fashion we commiserate! Today I’m taking you to the home of one of those friends…meet Pamela of Home On Fern Hill.

” I live in Connecticut with my husband Lance and yellow lab Piper.  I am a decor enthusiast and recent co owner of Fern Hill Interiors. When I’m not designing spaces for clients you can find me teaching Pilates and Barre. I would define my style as French Farmhouse with a hint of shabby chic.”

Pamela’s dog Piper is a bit of a superstar over on Instagram and loves posing with mom.

As many of the homes in New England, the exterior style is traditional. ” We built our traditional colonial home in 1998 because that was the style home I grew up in, in Ridgefield, CT.”

Pamela has a keen eye for styling and works with many brands to create beauty in her home. I love her pops of aqua!

Pamela has always loved decorating and as a child rearranged rooms in her doll house. “My mom was an avid antique collector and I grew up in a home with all things pretty so let’s just say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

As I was hanging out with Pamela we talked about design, styles and various companies that we frequent in our purchases. Pamela works as a designer with a long time local friend and you can view more at FERN HILL INTERIORS. The chairs below are a favorite of mine and the combination of the subtle animal print paired with Ralph Lauren is so fashionable!

A little bit more about Pamela, her family and her home…

“We built our traditional colonial home in 1998 because that was the style home I grew up in, in Ridgefield, CT. Met my husband through high school friends who went to college with him at a Plaid Party in 1989. I was living in Boston he was living in West Hartford. Did the long distance thing until we got engaged and married in 1990. Built our home in Bristol to be close to family.Raised our boys in this home who are now 23 and 25 and live across the country. Will stay here to take care of our aging parents . Next stop… to be determined!”

“As a stay at home mom, got into fitness. Having a dance background I was able to incorporate that and still be able to stay home.”

Pamela isn’t afraid to take on DIY projects and does some beautiful painting projects. She shares her DIYs and before/afters over on her Instagram feed.

I just love this decorative wall treatment in her office!

Her favorite room is the family room and how convenient it is to have it open to kitchen. The kitchen was just updated with new quartz countertops.

While her home is constantly in decor flux, they haven’t done any major renovations. It’s easy and more affordable to create new looks stay current with paint colors , flooring, furnishings etc.

Seasonal decorating also adds those pops of color in her neutral home.

And the addition of subtle inspiring vignettes just makes everything so pretty.
