Gorgeous Utah Home Tour – French Country Elegance

Today I’m showcasing a gorgeous Utah home tour that is one of the prettiest French country homes I’ve seen! It’s grand in scale, yet decorated for real life family and friends. Let’s go inside this beautiful home and see more and I hope that you take some inspiration!

gorgeous Utah home french country style

A beautiful snow covered dream, this home in Highland, Utah belongs to my friend Holly that I met through Instagram a couple of years back. Holly lives full time in suburban Seattle, where her husband runs a Dental practice.

This French country style estate that inspires so many of us and it’s lovely to know how sweet, talented and humble the homeowner is. I recall seeing this stunner many years ago on Instagram and thought that it looked familiar when I came upon Holly. This home had previously belonged to Drew Parcell and his wife Rachel, and was known on Instagram as ” The Rachel Parcell house” ( Rachel Parcell ).

We purchased the Highland, Utah house in 2016 to be closer to our kids who were all attending college in Utah and to be closer to my husband’s father who has dementia. We were flying here often to take care of him and when we found out this house was for sale we decided to buy it. We allowed the previous owners (Rach and Drew Parcell) to live in the house for a year after we bought it from them and rent it back from us while they built their new home. We didn’t move in until September of 2017.”

“A little about me: My husband Craig and I have been married 27 years and we have four grown children. After my husband finished dental school and his time in the Army we bought a dental practice and built our first home in Ravensdale. Our oldest son is married and we just became grandparents. Our second son is a US Marine and a pilot. Our third son is a junior in college and in ROTC with the Air Force and wants to be a pilot as well. Our daughter is a sophomore in college and our only girl. She’s studying ASL and wants to be a sign language teacher. They are wonderful kids and we are so blessed by them! “

“The home is built out of stone imported from Texas and the entire exterior is stone. The home is 11,000 sq. feet (which is not uncommon in Utah) and is a French Country style home. It’s in a neighborhood called Country French Estates and all the homes have some element of that French country style. The windows and exterior doors are all painted blue and the interior has many french country design elements.”

Whatever the size of one’s home, it’s the personal touches and attention to detail that make it special. With a massive bank of windows there is ample light whatever the weather may hold. Lots of blue has been used throughout this gorgeous Utah home to create continuity in flow.

Holly says – “I don’t know that I have any particular style because I love so many different interior styles but if I had to classify it I’d say that I’m transitional with some French Country vibes. I call myself an interior stylist rather than a designer, as I have no formal training. I have always enjoyed design and the art of homemaking and creating a beautiful home.”

“After we moved into the Highland house, I set to work decorating it and making it our home. It’s a large house and I was a bit overwhelmed with it. I started room by room and it was a slow process but it’s coming along. I still have many projects to do but it’s starting to take shape.” I can’t imagine what else needs to be done, but I’ll be following along with Holly’s Blog – Home With HollyJ.

I love everything about this open plan and the ceiling, the light fixtures and the space layout that’s divided into cozy areas.

A former soccer coach who enjoys her time now at home, Holly creates delightful tablescapes, loves cooking, hosting and entertaining.

“Creating a warm and beautiful home has always been something I’ve loved doing. I love having my family gathered around and sharing meals together on a beautiful table. That truly brings me joy. I want everyone to feel at home and welcome when they are in our homes and setting a table and making it beautiful and cooking everyone’s favorite family recipes are the way I show my love. A home is really just the memories that you make in it. Creating beauty in my home no matter where it is makes me happy.” I love Holly’s attitude!

“What I really wanted to share though was my recipes and the memories and traditions around them and ideas to host and entertain. I decided to launch a blog and HomeWithHollyJ was published in July of 2018.” By the way…Holly’s full name is Holly Jolley, as she married a Jolley!

The master bedroom continues on with the blue accents and a French country modern theme.

  3. I would love to know her wall and trim paint color. I have a Country French home too, but no where near the size of Holley’s home. Our home is quite comfortable with two masters on the main. My mother lived with us for a few years before she passed away.
We’ve lightened our neutral wall color, but Holley’s color is beautiful. Thanks for any info you can share. Loved her home.
