What I’m Loving Lately – Morning Musings 10

I had every intention of bringing back this musings series on a weekly basis. Life gets in the way and I can’t believe that I haven’t written one of these “just for fun” posts in over a month! 😬 Since I send out the newsletter to subscribers almost daily, I hope that you sign up for that and we can keep in touch. It means a lot to me that you read this blog…truly 🥰

LET’S GET PERSONAL

Ahhh, the outdoors, but as I mentioned before, my spring allergies and asthma have both been off the charts lately! For someone who normally has a lot of energy, it’s slowing me down. Thanks for all of your suggestions which I do appreciate. I normally really enjoy my daily walks but have had to resort to the treadmill inside. Not really so much a fan of exercising indoors, but you do what you have to. Last night though I was on Facebook for a few minutes and up popped an ad for a huge new gym that I hope to join once it’s finished being built. It looks amazing and the Y just wasn’t cutting it for me, even pre-pandemic. Do you go to a gym, or how do you get your workout accomplished?

WHAT I’M LOVING IN DECOR

First of all…I have been working really hard in curating my Amazon Storefront and I would love to have you take a lookHERE!
I really do appreciate your ordering through my links, as it helps offset the cost of my blog. Thank you!

As always, I’m loving lots of things in decor! One thing that we recently received was this – all in one standing desk from Flexispot – and what a great piece it is! My daughter is really enjoying using it in her workspace and it’s great for posture improvement. She does have a chair under it, but tries to stand and work as much as possible. Pictured below.

In early April we are getting some new flooring in 3 of the bedrooms of our home, one of which is utilized as my home office. This room has to be multifunctional and serves as a guest room and it’s getting a makeover that I’m so excited about! I mentioned that I got this pale blue velvet sleeper sofa (pictured below) and I’m currently looking for some other decor to pull the room together. This wallpaper caught my eye and I’ve ordered some other samples that I’ll share soon. I need to put a rug in the room and may do this beautiful blue indoor/outdoor rug. With dogs I find that rugs like that work well inside, as if there’s an ooops moment I can take it outside and hose it off. In my cart are these velvet blackout drapes that are so luxe and elegant! Just trying to decide on the color and will likely do alabaster for this room. Soon you’ll be seeing a bit of green in my living room and I just received this pair of velvet pillow covers that are less than $16 for the pair! Waiting for my splurge pillow to arrive soon before I share the look!

WHAT I’M WEARING

Love Chicos, as I’ve mentioned before. Did you know that when you sign up for the – mailing list at Chicos -you get 20% off? My go to current favorite pants are the Brigitte So Slimming Ankle Pants and they really are just that! Paired with a Pima Cotton Everyday Tee (I have them in every color) or the No Iron Stretch Shirt I feel polished and ready for anything. Lounging at home I’m always cold in the a/c and this Barefoot Dreams SOFT cardigan is a lifesaver!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS I’M USING

As I get older my skin needs a different kind of care for sure then in my youth. I’ve tried many and I know that this one can be pricy, but I have several friends who swear by it and am giving it a shot in this smaller size. The last time that I was in San Francisco visiting one of my daughters I purchased this hand cream by Elizabeth W and have been hooked! The scent is scrumptious and it moisturizes so well. If you love great scents that are derived from nature, you’ll find this hand soap currently at every sink in my home.

WHAT I’M COOKING & EATING

My husband had a birthday last week and I decided to make a special meal that could be heated up after his Pilates class. I don’t like to eat dinner past around 6:30 if possible, since I try to do a 16 hour fast until the next day. His class finishes around 8 PM, so his meal gets reheated. We used to enjoy going out for Chinese food back when we weren’t as health conscious as we are now. The Chinese restaurants around here are mostly gone post pandemic and I prefer to cook without salt or oils when possible. I made this tofu stir fry that tasted just like the sweet and sour chicken we used to enjoy before going vegan! Tofu is such a versatile way of getting protein and if well prepared takes on the flavor of the other ingredients. This was definitely restaurant quality and you’ll find the recipe here on YouTube from a delightful vegan chef in the U.K. Sorry that I don’t have a better photo, but try this one!

WHAT I’M WATCHING

It seems like I’m always streaming something, often several shows alternately! I finally finished watching The Tudors on Hulu and highly recommend it! It showcases the life of Henry VIII and his reign and 6 wives. Wonderful cast, costumes and a great escape into history. On the fun side, did you know that a new season of Mrs Maisel (Amazon) is out?! Personally I feel that season one was the best for this show, but it’s still a good watch. As for period pieces, I’m sad that the first season of the wonderful The Gilded Age is over and cannot wait until season two! But…Outlander (Starz) is back (I had severe Droughtlander and am so happy!) as is Bridgerton (Netflix) swoon! Just finished Bridgerton and although it starts out slow, it gets better…so hang in there!

INSTAGRAM LOVE

Like a lot of long time Instagram users, I’ve been disappointed in what the platform has turned into lately. Kind of like the rest of the Zuckerberg Metaverse (Facebook), they seem to be misguided and lost out in space. Do you know what I mean? I’m sure if you’re active on the gram then you’ve noticed the changes. Gosh, I’ve been on since the dawn of IG time and was not a fan when they turned off chronological order to the feed. Grrrr 😖 And then they decided to make reels the priority, trying to obviously catch the buzz of TikTok 🤦‍♀️ They have even resorted to paying influencers to post reels…and this girl is not interested, even though cash is involved. As a result of the changes, people have been leaving Instagram in droves. The beauty is no longer there…a finger snap makes a room change instantly, people are competing to act silly and my own feed is flooded with DIYs that have been done a thousand times over. Bleck! Even my millennial daughters deleted their accounts and are filling their spare moments in other pursuits. So…the head of running Instagram just made an announcement. If you are interested in knowing more, check out what Adam Mosseri announced HERE. They are rolling this out, but I have not seen it just yet. I have hopes for beauty once again and Lord knows we need that right now. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
