A New Rug, Fresh Flowers, Soft Sweaters & More – Morning Musings 7
Thank you to those who have let me know that they enjoy this Morning Musings series that I’ve revived from 100 years ago on the blog! ☺️ It’s just a little bit of this and that and what I’ve been up to. Some weeks can be lots of nothing around here and other weeks it’s full on busy with projects! Let’s get right into it, as I’m waiting for the dog groomer to arrive at any moment and then I’ll be cleaning their beds and the area that they sleep/eat in (the family room).
LET’S GET PERSONAL
I’m working on a couple of fun projects and one is a DIY that involves the cat! I just love this stray (Libra) that we took in over a year ago now and he has fit in so well with our other pets and family. This kitty is sweet and easy going and deserves the best life, so we intend to give it to him. We didn’t plan on a cat in our lives at this point and funny story…that my husband and I would have never met if we both didn’t have a love of animals! We each had a kitty many years back and both sought out a reasonably priced apartment complex that allowed pets. Not easy to find around here, but we ended up in the same building and got to know each other through our cats. The rest is history and we’ve had pets of all kinds ever since! Libra is very comfy here, as you can see below 😹

I recently purchased THIS RUG and boy oh boy is it a blue beauty! It just arrived and from my experience it will flatten out within a week or two. Originally my thought was to change out the rug in our primary bedroom with this one, but I’m enjoying it in the living room. That could change and one of the benefits of carrying color that you love throughout the home is versatility. There is blue in every room so will see where this ultimately ends up!
I also mentioned in my subscriber newsletter that I’ve been working with some stunning fresh flowers and creating arrangements around the house. Finding the perfect containers is key to display and THIS WICKER VASE that I’m crazy about was just $30! I bought a pair to use for both real and FAUX FLOWERS! Ginger jar shapes are well suited to flower arrangements and my other favorites are THIS ONE (the pink!) and THIS ONE (Chinoiserie chic).

WHAT I’M WEARING
One thing that I totally embrace is being cozy while at home! While I live in a warm climate, we live in air-conditioning and I’m often freezing if I don’t wrap myself up in something warm. My favorite soft line of clothing is from Barefoot Dreams and I enjoy cozying up in THIS ROBE after a bath (the best!). For days around the house reading and relaxing, nothing is better than THIS WEEKEND WRAP and when I do venture out THIS FLUFFY PONCHO. Are you ever too old for leggings? NO…and anyone who knows me will usually see me with an OVERSIZED SHIRT and a pair of leggings. THESE LEGGINGS are faux leather and they give a dressy and classy look when paired correctly with a tunic or shirt like THIS ONE!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS I’M USING
Let’s talk lips…and NO, I’m not talking those lips that you see on the Real Housewives that are all plumped up with filler 🤣 Seriously though, our lips can get dry in the winter and THIS LIP MASK is a game changer! I always carry a LIP BALM or two in my handbag and a good gloss that THIS ONE FROM TARTE.

WHAT I’M COOKING & EATING
If you’re cooking with those old teflon coated pans it might be time to upgrade. I had a set for years but the finish wore off AND I learned that not only is that finish toxic to us, but to animals who may be close by when you are cooking. I’ve been building up my stash and LOVE the Greenpan line found HERE. What I’m cooking tonight is this ONE PAN VEGAN SPAGHETTI from this guy that is an incredible chef!
WHAT I’M WATCHING
One word…okay, actually 3. THE GILDED AGE begins streaming today on HBO and is a must for we Downton fans! Shall we discuss this later once we’ve all had a chance to watch?
INSTAGRAM LOVE
For those on Instagram…do you prefer stills or reels? As a photographer I gravitate more to still shots but the platform has decided to focus more on reels. Generally speaking I’m not a fan of short videos but that’s what I’m seeing. 🤦♀️ That…and a lot of the same old, same old. I’m enjoying finding new accounts and I think that you’ll like Tallwood Country House and Southern_Charm_ Cottage. Beautiful homes and lovely ladies!
