New England Home Tour Circa 1879- Finding Lovely
A New England Home Tour Circa 1879 from Finding Lovely.
In today’s home tour you see how one savvy and talented homeowner was able to give her home a fresh look. This California girl in the “very New England place” of Wellesley, Massachusetts made it home! Come tour Jackie’s family home and fall in love.
Meet Jackie, of the brand Finding Lovely, who has managed to create one of the loveliest homes indeed! A mom to 3 littles, she and her husband moved to the Boston area in 2008. They fell in love with an old home and are working on it room by room. She was gracious to share some before photos with us, but it’s the after that will inspire!
Firstly, these old New England homes have great bones and lots of working potential. Most are two story homes with beautiful colonial exteriors and lots of wood details inside. The foyer before…
Some after shots of the foyer that was freshly painted with additional wood molding added and new fixtures.
The exterior paints a pretty picture, even in the dead of winter!

As a California native, surely Jackie prefers the warmer season. She talks about that and much more over on her blog and her Instagram account.
Firstly comes family and the home life and design has been centered around them.
Before Renovation
Here are a few more before shots and it took great vision to imagine the possibilities!
New England Home Tour Interior Post Renovation
I was first attracted to Jackie’s beautiful home by her dreamy kitchen. Every single touch is just gorgeous and her lovely space for sure!
Those rustic wood beams are everything!
One of my very favorite kitchens, with the coastal contemporary mixed with glam and rustic woods.
This dining nook is draped with a sweet tablecloth and simple touches for realistic everyday living.
The coastal inspired dining room.
With calming west coast vibes, texture, neutrals, subtle ocean hues, and loads of light it’s all truly magical!
Designed for a seamless flow.

Heading upstairs with attention to detail in the landing.

I loved it all!
Now that’s a house that is a home and wonderfully decorated!!!
Being a New Englander myself, I know what a challenge some of these New England turn of the century homes can be. But, this is a real charmer; she’s done a bang up job! Unusual for me, I wouldn’t change a thing! And I would give several small unimportant digits in exchange for that brilliant kitchen sink nook! I absolutely adore it. Thanks for the tour – I enjoyed it tremendously!
Oh my what a lovely home. The decor was spot on and so inviting. Loved every room. Thank you for the walk through. Jean
WOW and GORGEOUS!
Such a gorgeous home outside and in. Loved this tour so much. Happy Valentine’s Day Janet.

This is everything I love about old houses. The trim, built-in shelves and wider plank floors are so charming.
So lovely, with all the attention to detail I’m surprised that you neglected to cover the chains on your hanging light fixtures. THAT really finishes rooms off.
Although those can look lovely, that’s not something that we see often these days in a more contemporary home MaryJo. Perhaps that explains why she didn’t choose to do so?
What an incredible transformation this home has experienced. And with little ones too! So enjoyed this tour. I have an older home also and always love seeing what others do when they renovate and decorate! Beautiful!!
Beautiful home inside and out! So very gracious!
Lovely all the way through.
