Style Showcase 21: Your Destination For Home Decor Inspiration

Welcome on in to Style Showcase 21, the link party that’s your destination for home decor inspiration! To be honest I haven’t been inspired this week since the passing of my mom on Saturday. My husband said to me just last night that anytime you lose someone who loves you it hurts, because (unless you have a large family) there aren’t that many people who truly love you. His dad passed away last year so there has been much food for thought about the cycles of life. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say thank you for all who have emailed, reached out on social media or left sweet comments. I truly, truly appreciate you so much!

  1. Thank you so much for hosting another great week of inspiration. Thinking about you and your family.

  2. You’re so sweet to include my grass centerpiece this week. I feel very honored to be included with all the other beautiful decorating projects. I’m very sorry for the loss of your mom. I do understand exactly what your husband said…it’s how I feel lately. Thinking of you as you say you prepare for your mom’s funeral. May your heart be filled with many happy memories.

    Janet,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I lost my mom suddenly 4 years ago this March. I know your grief. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss.
    Sincerely,
    Jennifer

  4. Sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. My mother has been hospitalized several times for falls so I understand the serious nature of falls in the elderly. Prayers for comfort during this difficult time.

  5. Jan, so sorry for your loss. My Mom passed over 9 years ago. I ended up writing her Eulogy, which was very empowering for me. I felt I was truly talking to her at that moment. I know your mom is so proud of you and what you’ve become. You are a product of her and all that she’s about. She will be in your heart always. I love your blogs and all your lovely pictures and vignettes. The days ahead will be hard. You take the time to heal and be strong again. Do what you have to do. We will be here for you, don’t you worry. Much love, Cindy.

  8. Julie Russell says:

Janet, again my condolences over the loss of your dear mother. You’re husbands words are true. My aunt said it in a less artful way after my mother passed. She said, ‘when your mother dies, there really isn’t anyone who gives a d___ what you’re doing.’ She meant, really cares about the minutia going on in your life. And, she was right. I miss my mom more every years . . . and it’s been nearly 20 years. I wish peace and comfort in happy memories.

  9. Sharon B. says:

    Hi Janet,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a parent can be very difficult no matter what age you are. What a lovely gift your husband gave you with his wise words.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

  10. Bobbi Duncan says:

Janet, So sorry to hear about your mom. It’s so hard losing the people that we love. My mom died 28 years ago at just 68 years old (I was 39). We were extremely close, so I miss her very much. I hope the wonderful memories you shared with your mom brings you comfort and peace. Big hugs!

    1. Thank you Bobbi…my dad passed away at a young age too, so I understand. Much appreciate that you care.

  11. Janet, I wanted to say again how sorry I am to hear about your mother’s passing. It is never easy to lose our parents {both of mine passed from different cancers} but I hope that the memories of happy times spent together will bring you some comfort. God will take good care of her until you can be together again. <3

Thank you, too, for featuring a couple of my Instagram posts! I am truly honored.

    Love and hugs,
    Barb 🙂
