Clean your furniture piece very well before painting it. This is crucial when panting without sanding. Use a tack cloth or an old white t-shirt.

TIP one

TIP two

If it’s too grimy, use TSP or deglosser mixed with some water to remove the dirt.

TIP three

Prep your furniture with a stain-blocking water-based primer to avoid paint peeling and bleeding. This is especially handy if you don't know if the existing furniture painting is oil or water-based.

Don't over do it! Use just 2 coats of paint, no more is needed.

TIP four

You don't need any special wax or sealer.  But, if you see the paint peeling off , give it a thin coat of a alcohol-based  sealer like the Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye Shellac one.

TIP five

These are some of my favorite types of paint for wood furniture...

LATEX PAINT

It's inexpensive, durable and gives a smooth finished look that elevates any DIY project.

CHALK PAINT

Chalk paint has a distinctive shabby chic look that's very textured and rustic looking. Not my favorite for every project but some furniture DIY would benefit from this finish.
