Beachside Bliss: El Segundo Beach Cottage

Take a look inside this beach cottage in El Segundo Beach where coastal decor and modern design work together to create stunning interiors.

Laid-back and unpretentiously charming, this sun-lit cottage located in El Segundo is a dreamy take on coastal modern decor that will definitely give you tons of ideas to embrace the beachy decor in your own home!

Leaning more towards a contemporary take on coastal interiors with clean lines and uncluttered spaces, the interiors feel homely and quintessentially coastal.

One of my favorite design choices is the unique mix of old and new elements. The furniture is thoughtfully curated to blend farmhouse-inspired distressed accent pieces and sleek modern ones. This juxtaposition creates an enchanting balance between tradition and contemporary style, making the interiors truly one-of-a-kind.

Bare of unnecessary frills, this modern coastal cottage has sleek design choices with clean lines that elevate the space… with just the right amount of whimsy.
Grab your cup of coffee (or tea) and let’s take a peek inside, shall we?

Nestled next to the entryway, the small sitting area oozes coastal charm, with a half wall of exposed brick walls painted white and a welcoming fireplace.

The mantle displays an array of coastal decor elements, perfectly complemented by bamboo and rattan accents, like the side table and shades.

We can find a hint of pale turquoise scattered around the pillows and other trinkets.

On the other side of the entryway, the dining space is a stylish uncluttered area where white Windsor chairs gather around a pretty honey-colored wood table. A glob chandelier with glass accents adds a stylish spark.

And, of course, a lovely yellow floral arrangement gives a colorful note.

In the living room, a large white couch with relaxed slipcovers is complemented by cream and blue striped pillows.

The neutral background is broken up by a vibrant abstract artwork while an exposed wood coffee table displays a cheerful floral arrangement and travel books.

At the entryway table, we’re welcomed by a lovely collection of seashells and corals.

This is such a lovely entryway idea for a small space!

The kitchen showcases an all-white color scheme, with the only pops of color coming from the oak hardwood floors and cheerful floral arrangements.

Retro charm is added by the range and metallic barstools, while nautical-inspired touches bring a sense of coziness to this inviting all-white kitchen.

Next to the small desk, we can see the same fabric used for the living room pillows in the curtains, cream-colores with thin stripes. A lovely gallery wall sits above a distressed farmhouse-style table.

All the rooms are imbued with bright natural light, diffused through off-white curtains.

This makes the oak hardwood floors provide enough contrast to make the space feel airy and homely.

The bathroom boasts an all-white color scheme and a charming simplicity in its design, making the most of its smaller size. A console vanity with Versailles legs adds a retro flair while a pony wall cleverly divides the vanity area from the rest of the bathroom, maximizing functionality.

The bedroom maintains clean lines, featuring an all-white backdrop. Adding color and a bit of whimsy, the bed takes center stage with its gently curved, minty green upholstered headboard.

A quilt with scalloped edges graces the end of the bed, while the bed skirt beautifully matches the window cornice, enhancing the serene ambiance.

Warm-toned off-whites perfectly balance the bright and colorful accents in the home, like in the children’s room.

All throughout the home, we can spot cute and quirky decorative elements, adding another layer of charm to this pretty cottage.

Together with the uncluttered aesthetic of this home, all these elements create harmonious and inviting spaces that showcase the beauty of coastal decor.

  1. I love the simple dining room with the splash of floral color…very relaxed beach vibe. Sometimes coastal tablescapes are overdone with too many items. 😊 I was reared in Santa Barbara in a home from which I could walk to the beach. This beach home is perfect!

    1. You are lucky to have grown up in Santa Barbara, such a beautiful area! I prefer beach homes that are on the subtle side, as some of the tours we’ve recently featured have been.
