Classic & Jubilant Seaside Sophistication: Gibson Island Home Tour

Seaside sophistication at it’s finest today dear readers, as we welcome you back to our home tour series! In this edition, we’ll explore a stunning home renovated by the designers at Studio Miel.

Decorating a home with a coastal style is a bit like an art. It takes a balanced approach, time, and constant curation. There’s a nuance to it, where layers of lightness and soothing streaks of colors are key to crafting the look –and feel– of a true coastal style aesthetic.

Tucked in one of the charming Gibson Island’s tree-lined lanes in Maryland, this handsome property does it beautifully.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

Seaside Sophistication Home Tour

With the goal of making the 1990 timber-frame structure better suited for everyday life, the renovation focused heavily on bringing the coastal feel of its surroundings indoors while adding seaside sophistication.

The process also entailed the addition of a new wraparound porch, a screened porch that works as a sunroom, and an extra bedroom.

The kitchen features an all-white palette with pale mint accents on the cabinetry and door frames, setting a beachy tone from the go.

The large beadboard wrapped island with bar seating anchors the space, complemented by a brilliant pull-out wooden table. Rattan pendants and wood barstools reinforce the coastal vibe, as does the mint green paint on the cabinets.

It is filled with natural light from large windows and French doors, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors.

The living room beautifully captures seaside sophistication through thoughtful design choices. The vaulted ceiling, painted in a soft pale blue hue, immediately draws the eye upward and creates an airy and open feel.

This subtle blue accent complements the crisp white walls and exposed beams without overwhelming the space, keeping the overall vibe light and breezy.

Plush cream armchairs gather around next to a pale blue sofa. Woven jute rugs ground the room, while bamboo furniture and pops of navy blue in the patterned pillows add contrast.

The natural textures and neutral tones add a tad extra texture and contrast. Some subtle hints of the iconic palm beach style are present, with some quintessential motifs, but reimagined in a more serene aesthetic.

Striking palm trees bring the lush surroundings inside for a seamless seaside sophistication connection with nature in different corners of the home.

The home features coastal motifs and decorative accents sprinkled throughout, subtle enough not to enter kitschy territory but on-theme with seaside sophistication interiors.

The bedrooms exemplify the thoughtful interior design that elevates this waterfront property. Vaulted ceilings with exposed beams lend a timeless warmth, while large windows seamlessly integrate the lush surroundings into the decor.

In the main bedroom, the soothing color palette of crisp whites, soft blues, pops of turquoise, and shades of grey makes for a serene and airy retreat. With plush bedding topped with a tasteful mix of patterned pillows and throws, this space captures the coastal essence perfectly.

In contrast, the kids’ bedroom embraces a more playful spirit through a vibrant blend of colors and patterns. The bold red and navy hues paired with geometric prints inject youthful energy. The setup strikes just the right balance between fun and functionality for little ones!

I’m utterly enchanted by this home!

There is a relaxed yet luxurious getaway vibe about it, which reminds me of the enviable homes in Nancy Meyer’s films. From the curated details to the seamless indoor-outdoor living, it’s a true embodiment of laid-back coastal living elegance done right.
