The Designer Spotlight: Fresh Young Design Style by Alexandra Kaehler
Alexandra Kaehler has a fresh young design approach to all her work that I just adore. In this edition of the Designer Spotlight series, we’ll have a closer look at some of her stunning projects and go through the elements that make her creations so enchanting.
Alexandra Kaehler and Her Fresh Young Design Style
Alexandra Kaehler is a Chicago-based interior designer I came across a while ago and ever since, I’ve been a fan of her work.
Timeless yet fresh and playful with elements of whimsy and nods to traditional English style. Just up my alley!
All her work reflects her fresh young design style, yet at first glance, it’s the homeowners’ unique personalities that shine through.
Each project has a one-of-a-kind character. But, if you look closer, her hallmark style is present in the balance of color and pattern, in the carefully edited decor, the impeccable mix of furniture styles, and that vibrant fresh young design style that makes all her creations feel both timeless and modern.
In this sun-filled breakfast nook, blue and white team up in a lovely mix of patterns and textures.
Gathered around an imposing white round table, bistro chairs with a matching blue and white waved pattern complemented the curtains that mimic a similar geometric pattern in the same tones.
In this airy kitchen, the play of blue and white continues with a fresh coastal feel.
Pastel blue cabinets and an island topped with white marble countertops effortlessly complement the elegance of white bamboo chairs featuring striped seating.
The living room is just as truly stunning, showcasing a harmonious blend of sophistication and a 90s-era home flair.
Swathed in a lush green and ivory patterned wallpaper and decorative elements such as the striking lamp and dinnerware, this dining room is a beautiful mix of traditional and fresh young design.
Hints of powder blue and white interweave throughout the design, popping up in the dining chairs, ceiling color, and white chandelier.
The earthy texture of a jute rug grounds and brings the ensemble together.
She follows the client’s vision without removing her unique mark in the Burling project, displaying her expert eye and versatility.
Here, the set is moody, featuring dark shades of blue, muted greens, charcoal, and jewel-toned accents.
The bespoke blue bar cabinet catches the eye against the striking wallpaper.
In the kitchen, the green hue takes on a subdued elegance, complemented by marble backsplash and countertops, black bar stools, and mid-century-inspired globe pendant lights.
In one bedroom, the color scheme exemplifies comfort and sophistication.
The bed frame showcases a soft blue hue beside a striking dark green bedside table, drawing colors directly from the wallpaper which features illustrations of flowers and birds.
In the Westminster home, the romantic scenery takes over with stunning pink chinoiserie wallpaper and intricate bronze detailing.
Original chevron flooring, and plush sofas in muted green, vintage pink, and yellow add a cheery feel to the space.
In this little corner, the playful mix of the patterned armchair paired with a delicate wallpaper design adds a whimsy aura to the space. Doesn’t this look like the perfect reading nook?
There’s a nuance to her creations that hints at a timeless elegance with a fresh young design spirit which I adore. What did you think about her work? Comment down below!
