DIY Home Tour – Avid Crafter Turned Home Remodeler!
Jennifer has been sharing snapshots of her lovely home since 2011 on her blog, The Craft Patch. Since then, she has transformed an 80s house into a stylish home and is constantly innovating and thinking up new ways to improve her home. In this diy home tour, we’ll look at some of her gorgeous DIY projects and room makeovers.
Her home has a modern and quirky style and many handmade details- from hand-painted furniture to decor accessories throughout; there is plenty to look at in this tour!
Let’s begin this walkthrough with one of my favorite makeovers of this home: the living room!
Farmhouse to Modern Glam Living Room DIY Makeover
No matter what your style might be, you can update a room by just finding the right combinations of patterns, textures, and art – and that’s what Jane did to give her farmhouse this chic makeover!
She upgraded her living room from a classic neutral farmhouse look to a modern glam one with luxe vibes.
The decor upgrade was possible thanks to a few strategic changes. Jennifer started with finding a new sofa. Her choice – a lush, velvety blue one- screams comfort and style.
“The rug was my color palette inspiration. It’s a vintage-style rug with shades of navy, aqua, hot pink, mustard, white and gray so I tried to pull those colors out in the accessories”
A new artwork piece was added above the couch to enhance the graphic pattern of the new vintage-style rug. Along with a few throw pillows, these accessories added texture and comfort.
The sleek coffee table, along with golden sconces on either side of the floral artwork, completed this chic modern glam room.
Home Tour: Small Downstairs Bathroom Remodel
If you’re wondering how to remodel a small bathroom on a budget, Jennifer’s DIY home tour project may spark up all the inspiration you need to start! The before and after is pretty dramatic, but the homeowner wanted to update the bathroom completely.
She ditched the old-dated orangey tones and made the most of the space. She kept the same oak vanity but transformed it with a few layers of lovely blue-green paint that made the room feel bigger.
Jennifer added a vertical shiplap wall and upgraded the ceiling with a beadboard, both in white. The new vintage-style faucet and industrial black mirror added a cool touch and balanced the farmhouse details to keep the room looking modern.
Charming DIY Entryway Idea
With a perfect blend of farmhouse and boho, this diy home tour entryway is bright and welcoming. A huge contrast to how it looked before!
The first thing to change in this small but important space was the color wall. The blank white walls were turned into a statement dark navy shade.
Upon entering the home, a delicate décor design will greet you. Above a dark antique server hangs a lovely basket arrangement with the greenery (Jennifer has a DIY tutorial on how how to make one!)
The dark blue wall makes the green of the plants pop out even more!
Home Tour: Kitchen DIY Home Tour Total Transformation Process
The kitchen makeover took time and effort, but it totally paid off. Sometimes the renovation of a room can be tricky. But, if you are willing to invest some time and money into the project, it will pay off. For example, this kitchen renovation couldn’t look any better!
Jennifer started by tackling the functionality first: the layout (always a smart move!)
She removed a wood pillar and changed the location of the cabinets. A custom island, a backsplash of marble subway tiles, some floating shelves, and a brand new walk-in pantry completed the functional part of this transformation.
Jennifer took out the floorings first. She replaced them with a rich brown hardwood floor.
She and her husband even wrote a wonderful in-depth tutorial about how to install your own flooring on Wayfair’s site! Read it HERE
A lovely botanical art collection, pendant lights, and white crown moldings added the final touches to make this kitchen feel brand new.
DIY Craft Room Makeover – Home Tour: Storage Ideas!
This craft transformation is what most crafters out there dream of! Because the room had to be completely redone, Jennifer decided to go all out.
The built-in closet works as storage and doubles as a regular closet if the room becomes a bedroom in the future (a total win-win).
Thanks to the soft color scheme (soft minty hues, pops of pinks, baby blue, and neutral greys) and natural light that fills in the room, this space has a fresh and relaxing vibe. With tons of compartments, vintage-style wooden toolboxes and shelves, this room has the organization storage any crafter dreams of.
The details add femininity and a fun touch. A restored retro desk stills the show while the vintage-inspired filing boxes in gold, mint green, black and pink give the room a fresh and unique vibe.
This makeover took a long time to be put together but now it’s a little craft-heaven!
I just loved those before and afters!
