The Designer Spotlight: Laura Lee Clark
When browsing through her projects, the Stately Mediterranean immediately caught my eye.
It has that beautiful mix of traditional charm and laid-back opulence that’s so difficult to pull off without overwhelming the space.
The chinoiserie wallpaper featuring birds and tropical flora against a pastel gold hue sets the tone, while the gentle green accents bring everything together for a cohesive and sophisticated room.
Notice how many patterns are in the room! From the wallpaper to the rug and the chair’s upholstery, all perfectly combined. The high gloss glass topped finish of the baroque-inspired table, chandelier, and table decor adds a glamorous touch to an already lavish dining room.
In one of the living rooms, we can see her hallmark style of mixing furniture pieces of different eras.
Curved side tables with a nod to modern interior design that have Hollywood Regency glamour, and plush traditional sofas provide an elegant foundation. Introducing bursts of abstract art and contemporary decor elements avoids making the room feel too stuffy.
A glossy glass coffee table acts as a sleek counterpoint to the vintage-inspired pieces.
Finally, there’s the layering of expressive, modern fabric patterns on pillows and drapery that adds a fresh energy to the room.
The Southern Charm project is another prime example of how to blend sleek modern interior design and old-world elegance.
The extraordinary bones of the home already give each space character with all those stunning architectural details.
But instead of going totally traditional, the designer made it feel fresh and current by mixing in clean-lined furniture pieces and contemporary accents.
The Next Level project has to be one of my favorites! While all the rooms exude a stunning and distinctive character, the blue-lacquered study stands out as truly awe-inspiring.
The refreshing twist on traditional chinoiserie panels in matching vivid blue hues results in a uniquely splendid, one-of-a-kind space.
We can see the same design approach in all the other rooms, like the living room and bedrooms.
The layering of saturated color and ornate architectural elements feels both classic and refreshingly modern.
The Kips Bay Dallas project really steals the show with its unique, moody character!
By using that dramatic scenic wallpaper as the backdrop and layering in modern art pieces with pops of pink and silvery green accents, the space has almost a mid-century aesthetic to it.
It has this captivating, almost cinematic feel that instantly draws you in. Such an inspired blend of retro glamour and contemporary details.
