Summer Style, A New Meal Plan & Decor – Morning Musings 12

Welcome to Morning Musings again, and today is a slightly abbreviated version that I hope you enjoy!

With May now more than half behind us it seems that everyone is gearing up for summer! We have summer year round here in South Florida and the changes are subtle. No longer can I take the long walks outside and have to hit that treadmill daily. The pool is almost warm enough to dive into and the a/c is cranking full blast. Our raised vegetable garden (see how to build one here) is empty due to the scorching sun and the dogs can only go outside when it’s cloudy. I have some plans to head out for a trip soon and look forward to getting to someplace cooler! What about you? Any plans for summer travel this year?

WHAT I’M LOVING IN DECOR

summer living room

I’ve been adding some of the color green into my decor, beyond the cuttings from our tropical garden. Green and blue and a marriage made in heaven and it’s easy to do this with accessories! This velvet pom pom pillow comes in a set of two and is quite affordable. Pair this budget friendly lightweight throw thats perfect for draping over a sofa or chair for summer. I also love these pear green pillows with the classic style button accents.

We are getting ready to do another fun DIY outdoor project this weekend that I have been wanting to add to our pool area for years! Any guesses? In preparation, I’ve ordered this set of microfiber pool towels (love them!) and they are great for the beach or lake since they are fast drying. Here’s a cute fun float that I’m thinking about from a brand that I purchase from every year (you’ve probably seen our flamingo float) and there is this one I’m considering. Decisions, decisions!

WHAT I’M WEARING

I’ve been doing some shopping for warm weather clothing, including bathing suits. As a daily summer pool user I go for quality and yet suits that are pretty and chic! I just purchased this navy tankini top and this bottom piece, which I’ve had in black for years now (they last!). I also have this tankini top with the lace (in black). Don’t be afraid of a tankini and these are true to size. They are actually very slimming for women of a certain age who want to have coverage over the middle. Another great summer coverage item is a loose flowy dress, sort of like a caftan but less expensive. I wear this one often, and also purchased this boho style dress as well as this pretty dress. They are so cooling and can be worn around the house or around town with some accessories. I don’t have it in hand yet but also ordered this tunic dress for around the pool and house and it looks so comfy!

WHAT I’M COOKING & EATING

sprinly

One word here… SPRINLY! As you probably know I’ve been embracing a plant based diet for several years now.  I enjoy this way of eating so much, yet it can be a bit tedious at times to chop/prep/cook every meal. I finally found a plant based meal plan that I honestly say is wonderful and I’m totally on board after my second week of meals now! It’s called SPRINLY and this is NOT sponsored…but I have a discount code for $20 off to try it HERE. The best part besides being healthy is that you simply have to heat these up! They arrive fresh (packed responsibly and in ice), so unlike something like Hello Fresh it’s super easy and filling. I’ve been stretching out some of the meals for the two of us by adding a side salad, sometimes rice or noodles.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

If you’re a fan of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, it’s back for another season! All I can say is poor Dorit and that Sutton is just on another planet. I am missing Kathy Hilton, who btw follows me on Instagram;-) and hope she’s back.
My husband and I have watched Survivor since the first season and have never missed an episode! Next week is the season finale and I’m rooting for Maryanne at this point after her epic blindside last night. For an escape, I’ve been streaming The Paradise on Amazon Prime and if you enjoyed Lark Rise To Candleford you’ll find this entertaining.
